Overview

Madame X (Madame X Series #1) by Jasinda Wilder

“Wilder pulls out all the stops for this spellbinding novel of identity, passion, and fear... Once readers fall into X’s story, they’ll be desperate for the next installments.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

From the New York Times bestselling author of Alpha...

My name is Madame X.
My past is locked away.
My present confined to a gilded cage...

Hired to transform the uncultured, inept sons of the wealthy and powerful into decisive, confident men, Madame X wields culture and wit like a knife. But behind her sophisticated facade X is a woman adrift, trapped between a dangerous past she can’t remember and the protection of a seductive man who claims her body—and her soul.

Undone time and again by his exquisite dominance, X craves and fears his desire in equal measure. And while she longs for the safety of her tower penthouse, she also yearns to escape. But X has never known anything or anyone else—until he came along…

This was such a good book. Jadinda never disappoints. While reading this book I felt like I was reading poetry, but not. It's so hard to explain it. The characters are so well developed that it made me feel like I know them personally. I am looking forward to eXposed. I have pre-ordered it already and am waiting impatiently for it to be released. Thank you, Jasinda, for writing such amazing books. They feel like works of art to me. I'm sure your family and friends couldn't be prouder of you. I know I'm definitely proud.

I usually give a book about 30 pages to grab my attention before I give up in the story. I couldn't even make it past the first 10. Having a woman talk to herself as she is ridiculing the person she is supposed to help was a big turn off to me for a plot.

This is one of those books that I will not tell you what it is about. I went in not knowing anything about the story line and I'm so glad I did. There are just some books you gotta just dive in and this is one of them. What you do need to know is that it's dark, the heroine is in a pretty twisted situation and I don't even know who the true Hero is in the story. It is not a safe read and not for the faint of heart. I gave this 5 stars because I was just enthralled with what was happening and was trying to figure out what the true story is, all the while hating some of the things happening. I didn't figure it out and I'm not even happy with how it ended, yet the author sucked me in! It is not a standalone and part of me is scared with how book 2 might end, but you can bet I will be reading it. ARC provided by NetGalley.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

This was a beautifully written book, and has a great storyline. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was because iam unsure of how I feel about it. I do have to disagree with an older post. This is NOT BDSM at all. Its dark but not kinky. I will be buying the next book to find out what happens next.

What did I just listen to? I love Audible, and Madame X was my traveling companion the last week. The narrator was terrific; I’ll start with that. Now, on to the story. Holy Wow! I have read a lot of titles from Jasinda Wilder, but this one was fantastic. The way it was written, the story itself, the way the sexual tension was built up with just words. I can’t breathe! I would drive down the road listening, making “OH” faces at parts. The suspense. The anticipation, the not knowing who the hell she is. Amazingly written doesn’t even begin to describe how awesome this story is. After the final words spoken in the book I was like, “No, you can’t leave me hanging like that”. I mean, what a cliffhanger ending. Why? Who? How could she? I’m so torn. Gah! I’m deliciously enraged at the possibilities of what’s to come. I can’t decide who I want her to be with. I have so many theories running around in my head. And this dear readers, is what a great novel does to me. It makes me crazy and I absolutely love it. I shall now patiently wait for March to come. Is it March yet?

Loved it! Its a dark twist to the popular BDSM genre but written in first person from the perspective of the submissive. I caught myself torn between X's two possibilities by the end. Great read! I am looking forward to the sequel ?

This was a story that I absolutely D E V O U R E D! In a matter of a few short hours I was done. An erotic romance with a twist, it ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger, but not one that is going to leave me lying awake at night, biting my nails, and wondering what happens. Madame X is a personality trainer of sorts. Her clients are usually entitled young men, rich with family money, and poor in charm and class. She takes these "boys" and shows them how to behave as men. She is great at what she does but something is missing. Her "Master" is an enigma to her. The balance she has between controlling her clients and being controlled by Him is masterful. In an effort to keep this spoiler-free I'm leaving this review short, hopefully sweet, and to the point --> which is... Well Done Jasinda! I have always enjoyed your books but this is on a whole different level. Even the writing style and use of narrative perspective was part of the story being told. LOVED IT!

MADAME X is the first instalment in Jasinda Wilder's adult, contemporary Madame X erotic, dark romance series focusing on a woman known only as Madame X or X. Told from first and second person points of view (Madame X) the storyline focuses on X- a woman who has no memory and no knowledge except for the previous six years, and in this, she relies on billionaire Caleb Indigo-a man whose control over Madame X is virtually master to a slave. Caleb is X's rescuer, her confident, her protector, and the darkness to her light. X is a teacher, of sorts, who instructs and coaches the 'inept sons of the wealthy and powerful into decisive, confident men'. Caleb Indigo is Madame X's boss and lover (and I use the term lover very lightly), and and the man who controls every aspect of X's life including who and what she is. But there is a much darker side to Caleb Indigo-a man who hides his true identity from Madame X-but the man who has stolen her heart and her life. X is a beautiful woman who does not know who or what she is; where she came from; or the truth about her past. She is reliant on Caleb Indigo, and in this, she has sold her soul to the devil in exchange for protection-but who and what does X need protecting from? MADAME X is a psychological study; almost Stockholm Syndrome in nature, the storyline focuses on a woman who knows nothing about the man who claims to be her protector and rescuer, and yet demands everything from the woman who has already suffered in the past. Caleb, for all intents and purposes, is X's past, present and future. When another man begins to hunt for the truth, Madame X is torn between what she knows and the unknown. Jasinda Wilder slowly reveals Caleb Indigo's personality, his character and the truth. The aura of mystery surrounding the details of Madame X's foray into Caleb's life leads to many unanswered questions, and Caleb's purpose and need to control X's entire life is dangerous and dark. X has been conditioned to do Caleb's bidding, and in this, she has a difficult time saying no and walking away. The emotional, psychological and physical control of our heroine is masterfully presented. MADAME X is a story of intrigue, mystery and dark romance. The characters are passionate, intelligent and somewhat sad. There are some $ex scenes of questionable consent and the darker aspect of Caleb and X's relationship is frightening and heartbreaking.
