Maddie is single and wants to be married with a family more than anything. When she discovers the four year old twins hiding in her yard, her heart swells and opens up to them. The twins tell her that they are running away. She befriends the children and their single father, and she is more than happy to accomodate him when he needs her help. She learns that he is engaged and the twins don’t like his fiancée and vice versa. Growing up in a loveless atmosphere of dysfunction, Maddie knows the pain of not being loved, so while she lavishes affection on the children, she is also deeply concerned. It is only when she learns that Adam has set the date for his wedding does she realize the painful truth that she has fallen in love with the twins’ father. She is not the only one with a broken heart. Four year olds Shayla and Shawn are crushed by the fact that they may not see Maddie again. The twins resort to drastic measures, in four-year-old fashion, but a Christmas Eve wedding is planned in spite of their efforts. Shayla and Shawn claim that it is the saddest Christmas ever.

About the Author

Carole McKee is a native of Pittsburgh but now resides in Clearwater, Florida. She began writing more than a decade ago when she wrote "A Tribute to Jackson," which was a short story about her Black Lab after he passed away. The story appeared in a veterinary newsletter. After McKee's son passed away she relocated to Florida and acquired a couple of college degrees. While working and going to college, she took up writing as a hobby. Just for fun, she published her first novel, "Perfect" in 2006. When readers told her how much they loved the book, she entered it in a contest for self-published first novels and the book received an honorable mention, as well as a great critique. Carole became excited and decided to try another one. The next three books, "Choices," "The Bushes are Red," and "The Full Nelson" are a series, using the same characters. A fourth to the series will be published this year (2012). All four of the above books are available as eBooks and as paperbacks, and can be purchased from any online bookstore. In December of 2011, "Kisses from the Heart" became available as an eBook. There will be more published after "Maddie's Garden."

Carole McKee leads a quiet life, enjoying the sunny, warm Florida weather where she spends time wih good friends and her aging cat. She loves the beach but doesn't get there as often as she would like. Carole enjoys her work as a tutor, but likes to steal time to read. She loves writing and says she will write for a long time to come.
