Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite It was Halloween on the night Maddison was born ten years ago in the storybook Maddison: A Ten-Year-Old Witch with Magical Powers by Michael Montero. Maddison’s hair was shiny like a raven’s wings and her black eyes had the sparkle of diamonds. Maddison dreamed of becoming a witch and her friend Cordelia had told her many times that she resembled one. Maddison’s mother thought she was too beautiful to be a witch and she would tell them that real witches did not exist, much to Maddison’s disappointment. She knew witches had black cats and she could not keep one because her father was allergic to cats. But the following morning, Maddison finds a black cat behind the milk bottles when she opens the porch door. The cat introduces itself as Ebony. A lot of weird things happen on Halloween night, which confirmed Maddison’s witch status. Read the story to learn more about Young Witch Maddison and her magical powers. The story is exciting, and along with Maddison, Ebony, Cordelia, Roger, Mrs. Ephigenia, Velvety Large, Diminutive Little, and the Controller of Magic, the story will take you on a spooky ride through adventure and magic. There is a sense of urgency, anticipation, and excitement that awaits young readers as they are left mesmerized by the powers of Maddison. There is not a moment of boredom while reading this book and it will appeal to readers of all age groups. This adventure story is well written and a fun read, and one wonders would Madison always be a Young Witch with magical powers?
