Asher Benson has once again fled to a secluded cabin in the mountains outside of the sleepy town of Arthur's Creek, West Virginia. Government agents surround him day and night, blanketing his entire life in constant surveillance under the guise of keeping him safe.

That facade is shattered when every cell phone in Arthur's Creek rings simultaneously. Anyone who answers the call is driven into a violent, psychotic madness that turns the entire town into a slaughterhouse.

And Ash is caught in the middle of it all.

*Madness is the second book in the Asher Benson thriller series, full of snarky humor and nonstop action.

Ash is my kind of badass! Asher Benson is a perfect blend of flaws and heroics. In fact, it is his inability to stand by while others suffer which most dramatically contributes to those flaws. Despite his attempts to hide himself away trouble finds him (coincidence or dastardly plan?) but once he is in - he is all in. Though that might mean indiscriminate destruction of all the baddies in sight, he remains consistent in his goal to save the innocent no matter the cost to himself. It is heart breaking watching his journey but very fulfilling and honest. By the way, it is also a hell of a lot of fun. The story is exciting, fast moving and cringe inducing in it's graphic subject matter. My only complaint is that Jason made us wait too long to be a part of Ash's world again, I hope we won't have a repeat of that mistake!

Of post apocalyptic action. Sometimes the conversations seem to be a little too flip, sarcastic, but since I'm rolling right into the next one, this one gets a 5
