About the Author

Sheila Booth-Alberstadt has a calling to write children's books with purpose--books that deliver a message to both the adult and the child. With the Maggie McNair series, the author carries on this goal to touch on topics that are common, everyday occurrences in life, including hygiene issues and manners--lessons best learned early in life. Inspired by her own children's aversion to baths, brushing teeth, cleaning their rooms, and more, Sheila Booth-Alberstadt crafted the character of Maggie McNair.

Norris Hall has been creating colorful, whimsical clocks, murals, office signs, decorative accessories, and illustrations since 1987, when he left his full-time job as an art director to pursue a career as an independent artist and illustrator. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

I loved reading this book to my daughter at home to help reinforce good brushing. I love the humor and the rhyming words the author uses throughout. It is great for reading to my pre-k 4 students. They love it!

Sheila Booth-Alberstadt is an amazing writer. I have read 3 of her books to my students and they really enjoyed them. I also bought a copy for my 3 year old daughter and she loves the "Sugar Bugs" one! Can't wait for the next books! :)

Sheila Booth-Alberstadt is a creative, and talented writer. I'm a dental assistant, and was devastated when my own children got cavities. When I saw this book, I new it was a must have.My children connected right  away, with out me having to nag or lecture. I even got a copy for my dental office I work for

Sheila Booth-Alberstadt is an amazing children's writer. This book has my four year old asking for water over anything else and brushing her teeth whenever she can. Can't wait for her next two books!

This book is a must for anyone trying to teach your child about the importance of learning to brush correctly and doing it often!  It is funny, straight forward, and full of information about why brushing is so important.  I read it to my five year old and when I finished she said, "again!"  I am an elementary school teacher and I will also use it with my classes.  It should not be limited to just home use...all elementary libraries should own a copy.  I highly recommend this book and all other Maggie McNair books for children.

A Must Have Complement to our Health Homeschooling Curriculum!!! We were out past bedtime last night, and one of my four children cried out in the car, "Mom, I have to brush my teeth or I will get cavities!" Tonight, I found her in bed trying to read Maggie McNair Has Sugar Bugs in There (again). Maggie McNair is a relatable character that holds your child's attention with its rhythmic patterns, detailed visuals and fun facts that will impress on your child the necessity of good dental hygiene. I feel that this is an excellent resource to own as a parent and a Homeschooler. A MUST HAVE Complement to ANY Health Curriculum from pre-k to upper elementary. Thank you for writing this book! We love it!!!

Maggie McNair Has Sugar Bugs in There is my favorite Maggie McNair book. The rhyming flows well and the topic of dental care is relayed in a fun, non-threatening manner.

I love this book! I was fortunate enough to get to hear the author herself read it (and some of her other books too) while on a field trip with my preschool class. Maggie McNair Has Spiders in Her Hair was funny and the kids all loved it along with all us teachers. Shelia Booth Alberstadt was very engaging and a great storyteller. The children was glued to her the whole time, as we were too. I highly suggest this book and any others by this author for your child. My own child who is almost 9 loved it also!

Mrs Sheila came to my daughter's school on April 25th & she was going to be at the Mary C on April 27th.  My daughter just had to get her books, meet her in person, & get them signed by her personally.  We love "Maggie McNair Has Sugar Bugs in There."  It is a great book teaching children about brushing their teeth.

After the author came to my child's school, she could not wait to get to Barnes and Noble to purchase her own book. She enjoyed the book signing as much as she has enjoyed the book. Thank you for a wonderful teaching book.

Maggie McNair is a favorite character in our house!! Since we started reading about her adventures and lessons that she learned on personal hygiene, I hear my children telling other children how to get rid of sugar bugs and those crazy spiders in their hair. Thank you Maggie McNair for taking the "chore" out of personal hygiene!!

After my children read this book all they could talk about was brushing away the sugar bugs!!! I have never seen them take this much time brushing their teeth before bedtime. Thank you Sheila for writing books that help me as a parent in my everyday life.

Maggie McNair did it again! This book is a GREAT way to teach your kids about dental hygiene. As cute as those adorable purple sugar bugs are, no child wants them building a house in their teeth! My students LOVE this series of books and learn great lessons from them, as well.

The only positive thing to say about these books are that the illustrations are colorful.
