In an oasis of lush Green plants and glory, I can relate This remarkable true story.
On a hot day in June, The school bell rang out Loud and clear, To signal the close Of a successful, school year.
Summer assignments in their hands, Students cheered and shouted their goodbyes, To teachers and friends. Knowing for certain, They would be reunited at summer's end.
Summer is the perfect season To vacation with family and friends, From early morning, until the long day's end.
Two boys, however, Joey and Mark Did not leave overjoyed on the very last day of school.
Famously known as MEAN, SPIRITED BULLIES and CLASS CLOWNS, Seldom adhering to school rules, and almost always sporting frowns, Searching for ways to poke fun at others without forethought, Aiming to cause havoc and stress as a sport.
On the first day of summer vacation, Joey and Mark had nothing planned to do. They knew full well, without any friends, Their choices were limited and very few.
They walked a short distance to the neighborhood park, The ball field was filled with boys playing, laughing, and having fun, When the boys saw Joey and Mark, They shouted, "We don't want trouble." "Let's Run!" And so they quickly dispersed and ran from the park.
Knowing for certain that no one would welcome them to play. They had to find something else to do on that hot summer's day.
The two boys strolled into the beautiful school garden, Planning to make a mess, But what happened to them on that day, No one would ever guess ...
The big sign in the garden Was very bold and clear ...
Joey and Mark did not plan to wait for adult supervision.
They viewed the splendid garden filled with red, ripe tomatoes Growing on the vines, Leafy greens galore, purple eggplants, and so much more ... A rainbow of colorful flowers blooming all around, Growing straight and tall above the ground.
