I (Mark James Wooding, the editor/compiler) believe that my interest in poetry is due in no small part to a little volume of poems that I received as a child. As an adult, I have put together my own collection of favorites. If I were stranded on a desert island and could only have one book, this is that book. Perhaps this assortment will one day reveal to someone else the beauty and magic of poetry, just as that long lost anthology did for me.
