I thought that this cookbook had some good spins on old favorites. I do wish the pictures had been in color to better get a feel for the dishes. I do think that this is a cookbook best suited for those who are already comfortable in the kitchen versus those who want to learn to cook. This book has the feeling of exchanging recipes with a good girlfriend and that adds to its charm.

I really liked the easy, everyday type meals, with easy to find ingredients. The directions were simple and easy to follow and I like how Martin tells you what sections of the grocery store to find the less common ingredients she occassionally uses. Also, I loved the content in the appendices. Martin includes information not normally found in cookbooks from spring cleaning tips to the health benefits of various spices. Although I would have liked to see colour photos, prep times and number of servings for the various recipes, as well as a table of contents or some other way to easily find the different recipe sections, overall I found this a really good book. It will definitely be a welcome addition to my recipe book shelf, and I look forward to trying out a number of Martin's creations. Also, at this price point, it's a recommended buy as it's a cookbook I think will actually get used in most kitchens.

It is very evident that Ms. Martin has poured her heart and soul into her cookbook Magically Delicious! The subtitle of the book on the title page tells us it is full of "Meals Inspired to Create a Healthy Lifestyle." Ms. Martin states: "Believe me when I say that living healthy doesn't mean nasty or tasteless food; it means you have to use your imagination to come up with new and exciting alternatives." She has had fun putting her own spin on some old classics as well as creating her own recipes. The book is filled with a variety of recipes including aphrodisiacs. How about that! The recipes are set up one to a page, with the ingredients listed in a column, and then step-by-step directions which are very easy to follow. There has been discussion in some reviews about the pictures not being in color, which is disappointing, but I'm sure that is due to printing costs. Readers can check out a number of the foods in color on the Magically Delicious! website. (You can also order foods already prepared. How cool is that? Check it out!) The recipes are such that you don't have to go out of your way to get those "one time only" ingredients. Know what I mean? They also are simple enough that all cooks would enjoy making them. Ms. Martin included a great glossary and some cleaning tips, too. Without a table of contents, I find it an easy book to just flip through when looking for a great idea. I like those kinds of cookbooks.and think readers will find it a nice addition to their cookbook shelf. As an editor, I couldn't give Ms. Martin a five star rating because it is obvious to me that she has a bit to learn about the publishing end of things, but that doesn't bring down a five star rating for the recipes themselves. For her creativity, spirit, and endeavors to help the health of others, she definitely gets a five-star rating from me.

I reviewed Ms. Martin's book on my Youtube Talk Show, The RH3 Show, and I really enjoyed reviewing it. the book has a lot of information and I love the ease of use and how simple the recipes are. One thing I didnt like was that some of the pictures weren't in color. Thats all. I gave her book a A- to a B+. Great Job Felicia.

What do you get when you add some interesting ingredients like V-8 Garden Broccoli Soup and concoct some creative ways to mix them all together? Delicious magic, all right! Take, for instance, author Felicia Martin's spin on good old boring Tuna Casserole. Her recipe calls, in addition to the tried and true ingredients, for a few pinches of Ms. Dash, smoked paprika and Old Bay Seasoning, not to mention an interesting mix of doesn't that accent the same old, same old with a little zest? I do, however, hope the second cookbook volume will include color photos and a table of contents, and I do hope the author pens and publishes another cookbook to follow this one! What plopped a cherry on the top of everything, and we are not just talking desserts here, was the extras-sort of like tasty tapas-that Ms. Martin includes in the book. For instance, the spring cleaning tips had me reaching into a few dusty kitchen cabinets, and her tips for growing herb gardens may just inspire a bit of green in my thumb after all. Overall, "Magically Delicious!" is the book to buy, try and share with others-even the non-foodies may get cast under Ms. Martin's delightful spell. This book was filled with meals that could be prepared easily on a daily basis. It wasn't a book filled with ingredients that were foreign to me. The lists that were provided included food that I was familiar with. However, the author did inform you of where to find certain ingredients in the grocery store that were less commonly used ingredients. She included a list of spices, cleaning tips, a recipe index and a glossary of terms used in the recipes and for cooking as well. This was an added touch. I wish the author would have included a table of contents to guide the book easier. I am big on presentation. Most cookbooks are usually bright, colorful and inviting and I feel this book would be better received if the books color scheme was different. Most importantly I wish the pictures of the food were in color. The food would be more inviting when the pictures jump out at you. In black and white it is hard to appreciate the finished products. I think the author is planning on writing a second volume and I hope there are color photos in the next one. Color explodes off the page whereas the current photos don't allow you to enjoy what the food could look like. This book has recipes that can be used in any home and I recommend readers add it to their collection.

Fantastic! I love the recipes in it (my next adventure is going to be the Strawberry Biscuits). The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. My favorite part was that it has some really useful tips in the back. Not sure how long common foods will last? There's a chart for that! Have a tickle in your throat and looking for a natural remedy? There's a chart for that! This will be keeping me busy in the kitchen for a while.
