Magnolia Sunset by Giselle Carmichael

Nicole is a half-Vietnamese, half-black woman who was abandoned by her family at an early age. She is driven to find out who her parents were, and why they deserted her; in the meantime, she swears that she'll never let anyone get close enough to hurt her again. Xavier is a military policeman who is heartbroken after his wife walks out on him. The two of them are set up by matchmaking friends, and although neither of them wants a committed relationship at first, they enter into an "adult arrangement". However, they find that staying emotionally uninvolved is harder than it appears...

Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down...a beautiful love story that takes place near my home town. The author's description of the area and her main characters were wonderful and made it easy for the reader to visualize every scene. I'm looking forward to her next 'work of art.'
