Dodge City Brides: USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean delivers three breathtaking and passionate full-length novels featuring rugged, alpha-male heroes of the West, all sworn to protect the women they love...

A loveless marriage of convenience on the Kansas prairie turns out to be far more than she bargained for...

Brigs Brigman has been burned once before, and the last thing he needs is a beautiful wife who will spend hours in front of the mirror, primping herself. He knows how hard the prairie can be on a woman, and all he wants is a stalwart bride who won't complain about hauling water from the creek....
All Sarah MacFarland wants is to escape her fearful life in Boston and start fresh with a new identity. Answering an advertisement for a mail order bride on an isolated Kansas farm seems like the perfect solution, until she meets her soon-to-be husband-a ruggedly handsome, strapping farmer who is inexplicably guarded...yet fiercely protective, and so incredibly virile, he leaves her breathless on their wedding night. But is it possible that two tormented souls can find happiness, when all they know is betrayal, and when trust is the only way out of a tumultuous past that simply won't stay buried?
The Compete Trilogy:
MAIL ORDER PRAIRIE BRIDE - Dodge City Brides - Book 1
TEMPTING THE MARSHAL - Dodge City Brides - Book 2

I hate cliffhangers. This is not a cliffhanger! I found the book poignant and interesting. It also brought home to me how much smaller the world is today. If I wanted proof that someone was lying, today I could use my phone and call someone instantly and I could find the truth. In this historical time, the quickest method to use would have to send a telegraph, have it delivered, have the receiver read then send out a responding telegram. Then you would have it delivered to your home/business, then upon your receipt, you would have your answer. I enjoyed this story because it brought two broken souls together, and through trials and tribulations, they find that living could be hard unless you had someone backing you! I recommend this book.

I made myself read this book. I was ready for someone to shoot Briggs in the head. I was thoroughly sick of him.

I had to force myself to finish this book. It just doesn't hold your interest. Took me a week to read 200 pages. GJRA

The poor heroine. Stuck with this zero hero who wouldn't give her a break. She was forever doomed to pay for the sins of wife number one . Until of course the inevitable HEA. Personally I would have hated his guts by then. To each his own.

This is a completed story about a mail-order bride in a historical setting. I really enjoyed reading it and seeing how hard life can sometimes be as a farmer back then. Just like in so many email-order bride stories, they did not know much about the other or what they expected/wanted. Then, somehow when certain facts come to light there is a major resentment and much caution--all without too much discussion. Well, communication that is open and honest could have made this a much shorter story. The characters are likable and I just kept on hoping thing would work out for Sarah and Briggs. The surprising twists and tribulations make it all the more enjoyable.

An excellent book on survival, damsel in distress, and with the early settlers background. It was easy to follow and kept me hoping the heroine would win in the end. It was very enjoyable and held my attention. Thank You.

If you like reading about the 'perils of Pauline' you'll like this book. It was so predictable and trite that I couldn't finish it... I tried, but at 3/4 of the way through, I just couldn't take it anymore.

206 pages. A reprint of a Harlequin from 2000. This book stands alone. The heroine's desperation seems quite real and highlights the few options women had in the 1800s. I liked the story but there was a lot of dramatic twists that began to make the story extremely unrealistic. Worth the read.

Shallow characters but it was OK. I almost dumped it due to the strange twist about "Garrison" & the fact that I don't like people that lie & are evil. I especially hate physically abusive people, even if they are fiction.

Fun read. Makes you realize the hardships people endured, and somehow got through them. I loved it, really, just enjoy reading this time period, and was Free! You gotta love it! Give it a try, you won't be sorry.

This was a very enjoyable book. The characters were realistic and the story original. There may be predictibility in a romance novel, but I found this story to be rather unique in its genre. I became sympathetic to the main characters and had a hard time putting this book down. This was a free book from Barnes & Noble. I appreciate discovering this author without risk to my pocket book. It appeared I could read book 1 in her Highlander series, but then noticed the free book was in German! Too bad, I might have found another series by this author where I'd buy the rest. Just like I will put this book on my "buy the series" Nook book shelf!

I enjoyed reading this book. I wished the next one in the series was free. But, it's not! You might want to check for typo's quite a few i dont know if u can see my notes but i left some corrections on the area. Not to insult you but just so it could be fixed. I would have rated it a 5 without the typo's. I love a good love story.. this is one of them. Will look forward to reading more of your books. Thank-you T
