Overview

This book is good for people trying to understand the role of Malinche in Mexican culture verses the truth of the woman.

I really liked the perspective of Malinalli's character. She was constantly trying to find what for her the right decisions to make and what she felt was right. What she saw was so wrong: the pursuit of power, murder, and greed by Cortes. She wanted to do what was spiritually right for her and finally in the end she did. I thought it was a great book.

I did not like the book Malinche for several reasons. The first and main reason why I did not like it was because the author did not mention anything about Malinche. Malinche is the title of the book and I expected Malinche to be the main character, but I still do not know if it is even a person. The second reason is because the book was too confusing. The tenses would keep switching from present to past. The last reason I did not enjoy reading the book was because all the Spanish names and capitals. The author did not explain who or where they were or why they were important. I would not recommend this book to read for those reasons.
