Townsend's research into the life and textbook legacy of Malintzin, a translator for Cortez in the early 16th century, is a thorough compilation of facts gathered through many means, including precious works of art, and other scholarly writings. For me personally, it is an exploration of history, women's history and gendered history. Amazing research. Amazing writer. Townsend's book is a must read for anyone seeking to reclaim history written through a wider lens! Smithie Comstock, '16.
