What's in Mama's Purse?  Mama has a very exciting purse loaded with amazing things. Things you might expect like a book, a hair brush even a band-aid.  But wait what else is in Mama's Purse? Oh my, a baboon! How about a butterfly leaving her cocoon. How did a bear get in there? Now what is that I smell?  You have got to be kidding, it's a trout in Mama's Purse! The author asks,"What is in your Mama's Purse?". This is a fun rhyming book with nonsensical items you would normally not find in a purse. It was very much a surprise to me. I have a purse full of amazing things but I don't have a purse like this one.  The author must be very aware of the fact that small children love the element of surprise and the items in this purse will definitely surprise anyone.  The illustration were very colorful with bright purples, pinks and more, which also depicts the story stirring the child's imagination with an abundance fun artwork.  I highly recommend this book. Disclosure:  I received a free copy of this book from the author for review.  I was in no way compensated for this review.  This review is my honest opinion.

The rhyming text in this book is engaging and fairly well written. There are not many places that caused me to stumble over the words. My children enjoyed the story and all the funny things found inside mama's purse. The idea is unique and fun. The illustrations are okay. I feel like they don't go well with the writing, though. Matching illustrations and writing is a tricky thing, and I feel like in this case, they just didn't match up well enough.

I really enjoyed reading Mama's Purse with my grandchildren. It's one of the few children's books that I would be happy to read multiple times because the rhymes and illustrations are so intriguing. Kids love rhyming books and Mama's Purse is a truly unique, must-have book that children and parents/grandparents can both enjoy.

Mama's Purse is not only a really fun book; it is also a teaching tool. This book provides children the opportunity to find objects, learn new words, and even create their own rhymes. Mama's Purse incorporates unique words like bassoon and tiny typhoon with magical illustrations that bring the book to life. I highly recommend this book; it's one that children will want to read again and again.
