Barbary Cardy originally trained in art, design and construction, before moving through a variety of careers. To date, she has edited twenty-seven anthologies of various kinds. Her most famous works include 'The Mammoth Book of Erotic Confessions', 'The Mammoth Book of Lesbian Erotica', and 'Lust Let Loose'. She knows her way around erotic imagery and writing and in this new book, THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF GORGEOUS MEN' she has edited the works of many international photographers, selecting 50 of the finest in the world of photographic art whose images fill these 480 pages. The variation in the images in this book vary greatly, form black and white posed and unposed images, to duotone, to richly colorful, to hand manipulated very artsy creations. The one common denominator is found in the title: form all over the world these are photographs of rather amazing men - solo and together - in images that are both suggestive and 'tastefully explicit'. The artists whose works are included are (alphabetically) Jack Balas, Henning von Berg, Tom Bianchi, Libby Bulloff, Tony Butcher, Michael Childers, Julie Cook, Merri Cyr, Dennis Dean, Jay Eff, Robert Flynt, Zuleika Fray, Alex Gerry, David Gray, Conrad Hechter, Jay Jorgensen, Vim Kruger, Rob Lang, Jason Langer, Harriet Leibowitz, Edward Lucie-Smith, Christopher Makos, Vivienne Maricevic, Michele Martinoli, Elizabeth May, Glen Mitchell, Diana More, Katrine Neoromantika, Dianora Niccolini, Cat O'Nine Tails, Michael Palladino, Doralba Picerno, Eric Raptosh, Holly Revell, Roberto Rincon, Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte, Jan Saudek, Sara Saudkova, Jack Slomovits, James Stafford, Stanley Stellar, Britt Marie Trensmar, Arthur Tress, David Vance, William Yang, and David Zanes. This is as fine a collection of both men and women photographers whose eye is drawn to the sensual male as is in publication. Many of the names will be very familiar, but many of the artists are less in the limelight. This adds to the page after page of surprises. Barbara Cardy's talent lies in her curatorial abilities in this book. She lives with her husband and two boys in the UK. Grady Harp
