Only 122 pages long, this is a quick read. I laughed on every page. I have four dogs of my own, and am fast approaching the end of our journey together. Concludes with some touching and appropriate words for that time of their life.

This book has its funny times, and its sad times. It is a great comedy and it is most likely the best book I have ever read. All dog lovers will live this. ( Tip: sad at the end)

Good story for dog lovers.

This is a typical dog story in some ways, but is written in a comedic style. It reminded me of the book Marley and Me, but with different castastrophes. It is a quick read and worth the time if you are a dog lover. I especially liked the advice to dog owners at the end of the book.

Such a sweet book. Good message as well. No better love than a man and his dog. :)

This is such a wonderful, heartfelt story. It is fill of funny and sad stories, along with those that make you cringe, both for the dog, and the owner. I definitley recommend this amazing book.

I can relate to this story very well because just a couple of days ago, my hamster died and i have been having a hard time cooping with it. But then i read this story again and it is so hard not to cry at the end when the author says it is a sweet-pain. Because it actually is. It is such a sweet-pain. I absolutly love this book and highly recomend it to animal lover and anybody else. Good work author. Very good. Love it.

Some funny moments, but what really came through was this mans dislike of his family.

I thought this was a good, easy read. It was a little sad at times (that dog is funny, but crazy!), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In all honesty I am not quite sure how I feel about this book. I grew up with dogs and some of them were, let's just say less than well trained so I understand the whole lovable but incorrigible thing. I think my feelings might come from reading the stories of the dog separated from the family memories that surrounded them. This book is a second edition culled from Mr. Emery's memoir of of his father and Bunkie entitled "Dad, Dog and Fish." Without context it seems, at least to me, that many of the Bunkie stories, while entertaining, lack warmth. And with that photo on the cover I was expecting at the very least warm and exasperating. I got just mostly exasperating. It's not that I didn't enjoy reading the book, I just wasn't left with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

It was a wonderful and touching story about a man and his beloved dog. Its a must read for all pet lovers. I can relate the story because i had a dog just the same as bunkie and it passed away . This is why the book gets 5stars.
