Not that interesting, but fills in details from the Congress of the time and shows his relationship with the presidents he worked with.

Excellent memoir of the man who was President Reagans foil and friend. Speaker of the House O'Neil could have arguably been called at one time the second most powerful man in America.

I read this book back in 1988 or so, shortly after it came out. It's probably fairly typical of the genre -- a (presumably) ghostwritten political memoir by an old ex-officeholder who finally either retired or was kicked out by the voters. That said, O'Neill is funny and insightful, and his love of his country, his state, and his party show clearly throughout the book, and started my lifelong interest in politics.
