Dams and Barrages play a pivotal role in the economic development of a country. Generally, dams/ barrages' safety programs are managed by a regulatory authority that establishes standards for design, construction, monitoring, reporting & maintenance. Any deficiencies & lapses in the operation & management of dams may result in catastrophic events resulting in colossal loss of property as well as lives. Authorizing legislations need to be kept simple so that program specifics can be detailed within administrative rules and regulations thereby inducing program flexibility.
