Mandalas are elegant circular figures that encourage viewers to place their attention on their centers, as if this center brought order to all that surrounded it. They are sometimes purely geometrical, but sometimes resemble flowers, stars, or suns. Mandalas have been used across time and cultures to meditate, concentrate, heal, and connect with the self. For children, coloring or observing simpler mandalas encourages creativity, improves attention span, and helps to manage anxiety—all in all, a great activity to share for an afternoon with family.
