Another fantastic concept from author Brian Wood. Sadly, another swing and miss. The idea of an immensely popular sports figure that transcends nations becoming hated due to having powers. Unfortunately, the execution is so disjointed. We're never given reasons to feel for Mara. The world is underdeveloped. The dialogue is bland. The art by Ming Doyle is a treat but there wasn't enough to work with. Overall, a miss.
I highly recommend this book. The themes this book explores are very relevant to our society today. Celebrity, privacy, social networks, and government spying are some of the topics this book tackles. A fairly sophisticated premise that leaves you wanting more.
