IN THE ERA OF TOTAL GALATCTIC WAR, CAN ONE SQUAD REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

On a hostile planet, Legion trooper Thinker and his comrades of Squad Beta are ordered to assault the invading encampment of alien Omins. But the moment they are dropped into the atmosphere of Andrion 3, little goes as planned. Only months out of training, Beta find themselves marooned on a world of smoke, ash, and lava, facing giant exosegs, and an enemy who attacks their very minds. The fate of ConFree, perhaps the whole of mankind, lies in their hands. To survive all they need do is destroy the Omni menace. The only problem—no one has ever defeated the Omnis.

Editorial Reviews

Laurel Johnson
“It’s been a long wait for the second in this exciting series of sci-fi books. I must admit that the attraction for me is Marshall Thomas’s writing style and story telling ability. Once again, the action is heart pounding, the characters believable and well developed. This time, adding interest to the plot, the Legion juggles political intrigue and betrayal along with fighting the Omnis.”
Peter Neubert
“Fast paced, hard hitting military science fiction of the best type. We follow at lowest level the beta team and in particular beta 3 the hero of the series. Good action and great characters with at times amusing dialogues. The tech is believable and the author to my great pleassure does not get into the trap of over explaining specifics but rather leaves it to the reader to work it out. Very good read and very recomendable!”
L.P. Mercer
“The Legion series is a lot of fun to read - good escapism, good (speculative) science and some moralizing. Ordered all six and read straight through.”
War Lama
“Thoroughly entertaining and a good read, it's not often I see right wing Sci-Fi, traditionally a genre for progressives who worship at the twin altars of Science and Knowledge.”

Struggle between Legion and O's come to a head as humanity prepares for battle. Good follow-up to first novel with plenty of hard pressed battle. Encompassing story described with good detail. Looking forward to starting third book of the series now.

This second book of the series gets more and more interesting. The legion finally kill an O but they lose many men in the process. Some of the characters kick the bucket in this book. However, the book keeps you right on the edge of your seat and the story plot deepens further with a few twists in the book, especially one about the System. This book is a great read in my opion. Currently reading the third book in the series. Awesome series as a whole so far.
