March Wind (Wilder Irish Series #3) by Mari Carr

Wilder Irish, book 3

Even if I'd known I would lose Sunday McCormick Collins so early, I would have married that beautiful woman. What we shared is all I've ever wanted for my children and my grandchildren. Love isn't about the happy ending. It's about the happiness found each and every day you're together. - Patrick "Pop" Collins

Padraig Collins loves his bartending job at Pat's Pub, the Baltimore hangout owned by his equally beloved family. He's young, carefree, filled with starry-eyed hopes and dreams for his future...which are irrevocably thrown off course when patron Mia Curtis comes into the bar, visibly upset. When she leaves in tears, Padraig follows. He hopes to give the young woman comfort and assurance. What he gets in return is a massive dose of reality.

Mia has a ticking time bomb in her head, an inoperable tumor, with a diagnosis of only six months to live. As Padraig lets her cry on his shoulder, listens to her heartbreakingly detail the things she'll never get to experience, he's forced to face some hard facts about the way he's lived his own life up to this point. Meandering through each day as if youth means immortality, and he has all the time in the world.

An evening of soul-searching leads to a life-changing decision-Padraig will help Mia accomplish everything on her bucket list. He won't let her die with a single regret. But that goal transforms into something far deeper when Padraig falls in love with the courageous woman. His once endless future shrinks to months instead of years, accompanied by a crushing sense of desperation.

Until they realize life isn't measured in time. It's measured in moments...

This story will hopefully widen your definition of a traditional happy-ever-after. Not all of us get the luxury of a lifetime...but that doesn't mean we can't have a lifetime's worth of love in the time we're given.

I have to admit, I was very hesitant about reading this book. I had heard it was a hard read, very emotional, and I knew I was going to cry! I was not wrong about that, but I'm so glad I read this story! Padraig works in his family bar. Mia is a regular customer, and comes in one night, not acting right. Paddy follows her out of the bar when she leaves, and drags the truth out of her. She is dying. (Here is where the tears start, and they didn't really stop, even after the book was over!) She starts talking about all of the things she meant to do and never really did. Paddy decides to help her go through her "bucket list." While working through her list, they get closer, and you know what happens next! Paddy is a sweet, giving man. He doesn't give a second thought to how he is going to feel, when this is all over. He only thinks about what he can do for Mia, how she is feeling, what she needs. Mia is such a strong woman! Even through the pain, depression and doubts, she stays determined to make the most of the time she has left. This book had me in tears from beginning to end. Don't get me wrong, there were still lots of laughs, but I was laughing through the tears. This was a very emotional read, but totally worth it! It really makes you realize that Happy Ever After may not mean forever, and that you have to appreciate and enjoy the time that you do have. This was a beautiful story, lots of laughs, lots of tears, but definitely worth reading!

I am still sobbing. I love this book so much. Along with the sadness there was also laughter and joy. Padraig and Mia's love was so pure and joyful at times overshadowing the sadness. I am so grateful that I was able to read this story.

I have never laughed and cried over any book as much as this one. It reminded to tell my love one's how much I love them every day not just on special days.

The story that never gets told is often the one we need to hear.

A truly moving story about love! Made me laugh. Made me cry. But it truly speaks to the heart that love has no timeline. A must read! Can't wait til the next book.

Mari Carr’s March Wind is one of the ultimate modern love stories. Padraig and Mia's story is a journey of living life to its fullest with no regrets and having a happy-ending with your best friend and love. Their story of friendship, love, heartache, anger, tears, and laughter demonstrates the foundation and pillars of a romance story – falling in love and continually taking on life’s waves until you reach the shore looking back into the horizon and remembering the ultimate of rides. March Wind is one of Mari Carr's best writing. Her words continually draws you in emotionally and shows she writes from the heart.

This love story had me laughing and definitely crying, but it was completely worth it! I love this series and the original Wild Irish series. Padraig & Mia are a wonderful couple and lived their time together to the fullest and surround by love.

Have read every book Mari Carr has ever written, and I have over 6000 ebooks, and probably read 10000 before i started reading e and have never written a review. Not a traditional ending, and I've never had tears start at the beginning and not stop, but Mia and Paddy also had a smile on my face through the tears the entire time. My wife and I have had 27 years together, and will be blessed with many more, but when we first met (and yes, it was basically love at first sight) we made each other a few promises. Love God, Love each other, and live for God and each other. 27 years, and while not every day was a good one, we are living those promises, and building a long HEA. this book tells a much shorter HEA, but the last 2 pages of Mia's book to Paddy sum up the Love each other and live for each other, just as we promised to do if my military service, or the vagaries of this world had ended our story early. Thank you, Mari for reminding me of the fact that not everything is as it seems at first glance, that I didn't really start living until I loved, that love does not end when earthly life does, and that the human heart has the capacity to love many many people. it is a wonderful book

This is absolutely the most beautiful story I have read!!! While I love all Mari Carr books, this one just went to the top of my MC list and my all time favorite list. It's beautifully written and heart warming as well as heart breaking and most definitely worth the journey I took from page one to the very end (including the author's "Dear Reader" pages) with Padraig and Mia. All I can say is...take this journey with them, you won't regret it for a minute.

I love the Wild/er Irish series. That being said, I was a little leary about reading this in the beginning. I mean why read a book when a) you already know what happens at the end, and b) you know your gonna cry your eyes out (and boy did I). I'll tell you why. For the journey. The author took me on a wonderful journey through friendship, laughter, love and yes loss. I laughed more than I cried and even laughed while I cried. And although, the ending wasn't a traditional HEA, it was still a HEA in my opinion.

Bravo Mari Carr! What an amazing story! It got me right in the heart. This is book 3 of the Wilder Irish series and it features Padraig Collins and Mia Curtis. I shed a lot of tears reading this story. A lot of them were from situations that touched me so much I couldn't stop the flow. This was so beautiful and so perfectly written. It's not your average romance novel. There's not a traditional HEA but there is one. There was also quite a bit of steam pouring off the screen of my e-reader. The characters in this series are fantastic! I highly recommend reading this book. I cried a lot but at the end I closed the book with a lighter heart and some hope for Padraig's future.

Ok. Wow. I don't think I've ever cried while reading a Mari Carr story. I'm usually blushing because her stories are pretty naughty but crying? This is a first. And I'm not talking about a slight tear here and there. I'm talking buckets full of tears and lots of tissue being used. I don't think I'm spoiling anything by mentioning that Mia and Padraig have an unusual love story because they meet when she has only six months to live due to an inoperable brain tumor, which is mentioned in the synopsis. But their love story, though it may be short, was truly beautiful. Please don't discount this book and not read it because it does not have a traditional happily ever after for the couple. Their love story really is worth reading. It was beautifully written and their relationship and interactions were really sweet and fun to read. Even if there is a sad ending their journey was a remarkable one to witness. *I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book*

March Wind is an incredibly beautiful love story that I will never forget. Mari Carr did an amazing job capturing the love between Padraig and Mia from beginning to end. There was lots of crying while reading this book and each time my mind wanders back and remember the story. I loved how Padraig and Mia made each moment together count with the love and support of the entire Collins family. This is my favorite in the Wilder Irish series and is a must read. Life isn't always what we expect and Padraig and Mia shows us to live and love one moment at a time.
