700 years before the age of Facebook Marco knew how to embellish and exaggerate what was already a fascinating adventure. A few things I took away Kubla Khan's Imperial army could not subdue Vietnam that part they didn't teach at West Point and number two for most of human history China has been the preeminent power. Seeing her rise as some accident is pure ignorance though the opening to the world after Mao died and Western investment helped. The more things change the more they stay the same.
