Overview

Marie Sisters

From Texas through a round of paying dues around Music Row and on into the studio with some of Nashville's crack session players, the route taken by the Marie Sisters has been trudged a thousand times. It's not surprising, then, that their sound is professional and polished, and also predictable. With the backup crew playing tight to the point of immobility, the sisters adhere to prevalent conventions of emotive solo singing on the verses and closed-eyed, punchy harmony on the choruses. There's actually nothing wrong with Marie Sisters -- which, of course, is exactly what's wrong with it.

The Marie Sisters are country with an edge¿which is why I¿m so glad I have this cd in my collection!. The music has the steel guitar and loud drums so it wouldn¿t really be considered traditional but it fits in well with the state of current radio, but certain songs like ¿Oh Yeah¿ come off very poppy but all the melodies are strong, especially on ¿You Were a Mountain¿. The catchiest songs with the most power are actually the first two tracks. On the latter songs of the album, it¿s much more mellow but the songs are beautiful and the vocals are so beautiful. On ¿Still¿, it¿s almost as beautiful as Faith Hill doing ¿Breathe¿. I highly recommend this CD because it appeals to emotions that we all have felt. My favorite is ¿Crazy To Run¿ because her melody is showcased beautiful and I totally relate to the lyrics!

From the first time I heard their single ''Real Bad Mood'' I knew instantly that the Marie Sisters have something amazingly different from any other female country artists out there. What stood out the most was the guitar-driven sound of that single, and after listening to their CD it's apparent that they have more than rock in their country music--their ballads ''you were a mountain'' and ''circle of love'' really shows off their beautiful voices and harmonies. Anyone who's listened to the CD will no doubt agree that these talented sisters will take the country world by storm!
