Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty. How far would you go? In the eighth book of the Left Behind series, His Excellency, The Risen Potentate (I love all these names), Nicolae Carpathia has come back from the dead and is now indwelt (see book #7) by Satan himself. The time has come for the "mark of the beast" to be established - a 'loyalty' mark to the Global Community. Without this on their forehead or hand they cannot buy/sell, move about freely, etc.; and if you refuse to get it, you will die. Good thing the Co-Op has already been established. :) Many of the Trib Force members are now in the Strong Building in Chicago, an area which the GC thinks is radioactive. They are hoping this will buy them some time, especially as they are past the halfway point now - less than three and a half years to go. I especially found interesting the several different scenarios presented in regards to taking the mark: there were the obvious "sign me up, I'm in" and "no ways", but there were people who STILL had to think about it (even after all we've been through!), and even a believer forced against his will to take it....this book made me think again, thoroughly - that if I were tested past what I think my mind and/or body should handle....what would I do, specifically? And if I had chosen not to take the mark, would I turn myself in and get it over with, or try to make it to the end, keep fighting?

Chaim's eyes are exposed to the truth. Plans are being set to administer the chip consisting of a mark proving complete loyalty to Carpathia will be embedded under the skin of the right hard or in the forehead of his followers. His followers will then be able to buy and sell. Those who oppose the mark will be destroyed. David, a part of Carpathia's payroll and a believer, is worried about his and his fellow believers lives. More people come to have the mark of God on their foreheads opposing Carpathia's plan. My favorite in the series to date promises action and suspenseful twists and turns. I felt that the dialogue and scene worked well and as the books before this this one also introduces new characters that I was able to connect with. The overall message was inspiring and I was again challenged in my faith. I was highly entertained and found the pages going by quickly as I was so immersed into the storyline. Highly recommend!

Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins in their book "The Mark" Book Eight in the Left Behind series published by Tyndale House Publishers tells us The Beast Rules the World. The Bible Book of Revelation tells us, "telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:14-17 NKJV) Nicolae, the antichrist, had previously been assassinated but was brought back to life by the devil himself. Nicolae is tightening his grip over the planet erecting statues of himself and demanding that people worship it. He also demands that the people receive a mark that will allow them to do business. Once a person has received the mark they are aligned with the devil and will be going to hell when he is finally sent there. Without this mark a person cannot go anywhere without being questioned, detained and eventually led to the guillotine. "The Mark" leads the reader to the moment where they would have to make a decision on what direction they would take, receive the mark and have no hope of Heaven or not receive it and possibly face the guillotine. It is enough to chill the blood and the scenes in this book will affect you emotionally. Dr. LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins provide a fictional background for the real events that the final book of The Bible, Revelation, speak about: the end times. The Biblical accuracy in"The Markt" is flawless and the story is a page turning thriller. There are wonderful themes: salvation, faith in what you cannot see and who is in charge despite appearances to the contrary. I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Mr. Jenkins is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as he tightens the suspense. I am looking forward to book nine in this series. The Mark, the eighth book in the Left Behind Series, immediately follows The Indwelling and continues with the battle for men's souls during the last days of earth's history. In this book, I was touched by the characters' exhausted yearnings for simple moments of joy: holding a child in their arms, reuniting with close friends, a few moments free from worry for their loved ones. One character ruminates, "[When he awoke] as had been true every day since the Rapture, he knew exactly where he was . . . Even when exhausted and injured and barely able to function, somehow the self-preservation flywheel kept spinning in his otherwise unengaged mind." As I read those words, I was reminded of the way many unbelievers envision life without God. They picture only freedom from guilt, constraints, and obligations. What they fail to see is that for a people created in God's image, life away from Him means no love, joy, peace, or satisfaction. Life as we know it would cease to exist and become one long nightmaric trip around the "self-preservation flywheel." This book captures that feeling well as the events move inexorably forward towards the culmination of the tribulation. At one point, Buck and Chloe, now believers and married with a baby son, reflect on how life would have been had they accepted Christ sooner . . . "[Chloe] rested against a white hummer and Buck joined her. She shook her head. `We're older than our years, wounded, scarred, scared. It won't be long before our days will be spent looking for ways to just stay alive. I worry about you all the time. It's bad enough living now, but I couldn't go on without you.' `Yes, you could.' `But I wouldn't want to. Would you, without me? Maybe I shouldn't ask.' `No, Chlo', I know what you mean. We have a cause, a mission, and everything seems crystal clear. But I wouldn't want to go on without you either. I would. I'd have to. For Kenny. For God. For the rest of the Force. Like Tsion says, for the Kingdom. You'd have been the best thing that ever happened to me, even if you weren't my whole life. But you are. Let's watch out for each other, keep each other alive. We've got only three and a half years to go, and I want to make it. Don't you?' `'Course.' She turned and held him tightly for a long minute." And that conversation takes place before the Antichrist decrees that all shall receive the mark of the beast. If nothing else, reading this far in the series will inspire you to share Christ with everyone you know. You will not want them to experience anything close to what the authors have imagined for life on earth after the Rapture--much less what comes after.

The entire Left Behind Series is amazing. By the time you get to this book, the characters feel like people you know and it is really hard to put this one down. This part of the story deals with the mark of the Anti-Christ who is in control of the world and quickly deals with anyone who disagrees. The Christians who decide to not take the mark are beaten , put in jail, shot and even led to the guillotine for their disobedience to the devil's wishes. The choice is difficult because the mark allows you to buy food, drink, work and just survive but to take it sends you to hell with the devil. The book really forces you to deal with the truth of God's word and the truth of the book of Revelation. Amazing!

Despite a brief introductory summary at the beginning of each of the books in the Left Behind series, it is not the same as reading each previous book. The Mark as a continuation was excellent. Personally, I am not an avid reader... this fiction series is captivating and keeps the reader eager to find out what will happen next. The plot is biblical, so it keeps the reader interested in continuing to the next of the series. The Mark was, if not better, as good as its 7 prior books.

The Mark is great compaired to the Indwelling. I like the Indwelling just not one of my favorites. The Mark has some tragety in it with people being maytered. But I liked it so well I couldn't put it down but by the tim you are reading this I should be on Armgeddon. They take for ever to post these so I changed my review of several books just because I did'n think I would get put on so if you read other reviews I did only Pay attention to the first one I did on that book. Which Mark will you take?: The Beast, or The Seal of God. I have read books 1-9 and I'm on #10 . Go Get These Books you might even get saved if your a non-christian.

I have never read a series of books, let alone 1 book that has intreged me as much as these books do. The authors are genius. They incorporate good fiction with suttle teachings from the Bible. Everytime I read one of there books, I feel that much closer to the purpose the writers are trying to accomplish. It has been an enjoyable way for me to learn God's message. I haven't met a person yet who has not just been glued to these books as I have. Hats off guys!

If you have studied the Biblical endtimes or not, this will give clerity to the concept, put in novel-style, it's a pleasure to learn of these prophetic facts. I became engrossed in the believable lives of the charactors in the story. I Want more!

I have listened to The Mark in audio form. It is almost too real when listening to it on my car radio driving to and from work. At times I break out in a sweat at what I am hearing almost as though it was a news account of the happenings. It is very well done! I can't wait for the next volume to become available!

Each book is better than the last. These books are FICTION. However, they are written around Revelations in the Bible. And yes, I believe the book of Revelations with all my heart. I too am glad I am saved!

Hi, I've just finished reading 'Assassins' and now I'm ready for The Mark. Hope this one's as good as the other 7 books. If you guys want to go serius about knowing more about the prophecies and the bible book or revelations, you should read 'Are we living the end of times' from Lahaye and Jetkins, If you've read left behind and now you're ready to commit to God, this one is for you!
