Marooned with the Maverick (Harlequin Special Edition Series #2269) by Christine Rimmer

Rust Creek Ramblings
Seducing the Schoolteacher?

We apologize, dear readers, for our brief hiatus in publication. The offices of the Rust Creek Rambler were damaged in the Great Flood, but we are now filing our reports from a bar stool at the Ace in the Hole. And do we have scandalous news for you!

We have it on good authority that during the storm, gorgeous rapscallion Collin Traub was stranded with our beloved kindergarten teacher Willa Christensen—alone. In a barn. Overnight. No one knows why, but Willa could barely stand the sight of Collin before. And now? Oh, readers—we don't like to kiss and tell. But our sources tell us that the sexy Rust Creek cowboy has set his sights on lassoing the sweet schoolmarm…for good!

With so many disasters today, Christina did a good job describing the flood and conditions that were around. Willa is the town school teacher while Traub is the toy bad boy. They are stuck together during the flood and Willa finds out Traub isn't all she thought he was. She learned more about him during the clean up efforts. The town pulling together, roads damaged, power lines down, etc. were so vivid. You could feel like you were right there. Willa learns another side of Collin as they work side by side. She figures out she has misjudged him for years. The friction between Willa and Collin Traub are like most relationships. There was too much sex scene so if you cannot handle that read over it. It bogged me down for a little but then the story picked back up. But that spot kind of bogged the book down. A good read however.

4 STARS Montana Mavericks: Rust Creek Cowboys continuity series. Marooned with the Maverick was a good story. I liked the plot. The characters. Could have done withou love scenes. Like the town coming together to take care of each other in a crisis. Willa for the last four years every time she saw Collin come into a room she would leave. She wanted no part of him. Willa is trying to get out to her folks ranch to check on her runaway dog and gets trapped in her car. Collin is right behind her going to check on his family ranch while they are gone to a family wedding. He sees Willa trapped and rescues her. The river has flooded and levee breached. He parks his truck out of danger and then joins Willa headed up the hill to her family barn. They are both soaked because of all the rain and cold flood water. The barn is full of animals taking shelter. Their are plenty of blankets in the tack room to keep them dry. First time in four years that Willa has been in the same room and talking to him. As Willa learns from watching Collin she realizes that their is more to the man than just the family troublemaker. He saved her life from being trapped and washed away in her car. Got her warm and comfort him and helped her get to her family ranch and then check on others and help where he was needed. They are both willing to take care of others as they rescue people and animals trapped from flood water and clean up. The story was easy to follow. Kept you interested in the community and wanting to know what happens next to the town. Has drama, humor and fun. I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it from Netgalley. 06/18/2013 PUB Harlequin Special Edition ISBN:9780373657513

Incredible opening scees with storm and flooding. I could SEE the flooding and cared about the characters. Emotional connections with characters. Last halcomp.etely TANKED-- no villian, marginal conflict--simply couldnt carry it through. Probably won't read any more from this author.

I started this book, not knowing the theme and was quickly drawn into the story. While reading Marooned with the Maverick, the real Colorado flooding was occurring. It was interesting to read this book while a parallel story was happening in real life. This is a truly well written book that had me cheering for the main characters! I can't wait to read the following books and hope to see these two again!

Enjoyable. The disaster was a little over-exaggerated and hard to believe, but I liked it anyway.
