About the Author

Julie Xuemei Hu is Senior Professor of Sociology at Union County Collage. She holds a doctorate in Sociology, a master degree in Sociology, and a bachelor degree in English and American literature. Her interests are in social stratification, marriage and the family, racial and ethnic relations, social problems, student learning outcome assessment, and distance learning. She is a certified Quality Matters Peer Reviewer. She has enjoyed teaching Marriage and the Family over the past sixteen years. She has published the text Gender and Work and co-authored the text Introduction to Sociology: Collaborative Approach and created Instructor’s Manual and PowerPoint lecture notes for this book.

Shondrah Tarrezz Nash is Professor of Sociology at Morehead State University. She holds a doctorate in Sociology from the University of Kentucky and conducted post doctoral research at the University of Illinois of Chicago. Her research interests include violence against women and spousal violence and religious coping. Dr. Nash co-authored the textbook, Collective Sociology: An Introduction to Sociology. She has published in Violence against Women, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Qualitative Sociology, Journal of Transformative Education, and Counseling and Values, in addition to book chapters in Sourcebook on Violence against Women and Battleground: The Family.
