Meet the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Ok, so this book is mostly from a guys perspective which isn't something I like. We meet the couple when the wife calls it quits. Ultimately they give their marriage a test period that has its own issues. I would've loved this book if it didn't end with a cliffhanger. Now we wait to 2017 for the end. I didn't like how the couple spoke but didn't say what they wanted to get out. Too many sarcastic barbs without dealing with their issues. It's like watching teenagers pretend to be into S&M. For a dominant the husband was awkward and not in control of anything. It was weird.

I loved the read. Adam and Diana's story was filled with lots of emotions and angst that kept me wanting to know...the sex was dirty and hot and I fell in love with them both...well worth the read. Looking forward to the conclusion Separation Games..

I had never read this author before this book. I have read similar books by Maya Banks and Cherise Sinclair. While I love their books, re-read their series and anticipate each new novel, this story hit me on many different levels. Well written and flowing smoothly, this book develops a tale where a Dominant is not self-assured and smooth all the time and a submissive doesn't just flip a switch and knows their own desires and is ok with that. While the ending does hang you from a cliff by your fingertips, the anticipation for the 2nd act is delicious.

Normally books that contain elements of BDSM aren’t my first choice. They really have to be intriguing to catch and hold my attention. Ironic considering the Fifty Shades trilogy was the series that sparked my burning book addiction. But when CD Reiss writes books with BDSM elements, I don’t just read them. I devour them. This author is my High Priestess of BDSM. She takes an element that might seem foreign and unnatural to the inexperienced and naïve masses, and turns it into a spiritual revelation. An essential element. An event worthy of worship. She makes you think of things in away you never though of it before. Shocking, yet beautiful and deeply thoughtful. Objective, yet definitive. But let’s set all that aside for now, because I don’t want you reading this review and thinking that Marriage Games is just another BDSM book, because it’s not. It’s so much more than that. These characters are so deep they crawled inside my brain, put down roots and made themselves a new home. They started taking up real estate in my soul. There is so much detail, innuendo and intensity in this story and I was questioning EVERYTHING. About the characters. The symbolism of word choices and references made by the characters. About myself. What would you give up for love? More importantly, how far would you go to keep it? The cliff-hanger wasn’t quite as brutal as I was expecting it to be. I’m fully expecting all those little hints and details to come together in Separation Games. I have plenty of theories running through my mind as to what will happen next, yet I’m bracing myself because I’m sure I’m going to be blindsided by a shocking twist I never saw coming.

I read the blurb for this one and had to have it. I love CD Reiss books and though this one was addicting from the very first page, I felt like I was missing something. I don't read a ton about D/s relationships but what grabbed me was the blurb and the possibility of Adam winning back the love of his wife. He has thirty days to change her mind. I enjoyed the past/present storytelling and seeing the differences from when they started to now. This book is about a couple's journey into rediscovering themselves. To understand what was missing in their lives and to either fix their marriage or part ways. It ends in a cliff which is disappointing because I want to know what happens to them. Hopefully book 2 comes out soon! I will say this...This book has Ms. Reiss's trademark poetic storytelling that sparks interest and opens your eyes and thoughts to different things. It's difficult to pinpoint what was missing for me...maybe it was lack of emotion and too much of the same situation with our heroine on her knees, but I wanted more depth than the repetitiveness. Regardless that this wasn't my fave Reiss book, I will continue reading and supporting this author bec I love her work and she is truly gifted. I look forward to book 2 and what is to come of this couple. I hope for a happy ending *fingers crossed*

Marriage Games by CD Reiss is the past juxtaposed with the present. It is the end of a relationship juxtaposed to the beginning. It is one character’s need to dominate versus the other’s unwillingness to submit. It is his willingness to commit compared to her inability to see anything through to completion. Do opposites attract? Do they stay together? Does giving up something or having to compromise just make the couple miserable? Those relationship issues are explored in Marriage Games. Adam and Diana don’t explore these relationship issues in the usual trip to the marriage and family counselor but through a sexually charged 30-day agreement that involves a lot of eroticism and BDSM. Ms. Reiss’ writing always grabs me. Her characters are the perfect bait for me, and her story structure, dialogue and evocative writing style reels me in. I loved Reiss’ presentation of the start of Adam and Diana’s relationship interspersed through the tale of the end of it. Ms. Reiss deftly dissects Diana and Adam’s relationship and the power exchange between them as the two explore their individual needs and their desire to remain in the relationship. There are many nuances and layers within Marriage Games. It does end in a cliffhanger, and whether it is a happy ending or not, readers will get the answers to those relationship questions in Separation Games when it releases in January 2017.
