Susan Edmonstone Ferrier is as clever as Jane Austen and as romantic as Frances Burney. Like "Sense and Sensibility" there is a hint of second-best love, and like "Evelina" a foundling, of sorts, finds her place in life. The bonus in reading "Marriage" is that Ferrier teaches the reader that there are more places in the UK than England and more places in England than London. Thanks, Dr. Garlen, for recommending this!
