Potentially great but . . . . (sorry) Braylon is a Criminal Investigator, a marine who has served in Iraq where his friends and team were all killed by "friendly fire" when one of the team shot them. He killed that soldier. Sandella's the only daughter of Kane and Sugar. Her Mum was raped and killed - supposedly by a marine who was never caught or charged. Because of this, she distrusts all marines and really has to fight her attraction to Braylon (but not very hard), especially when he starts investigating what happened to her Mum. This has a great storyline and is potentially a brilliant story, however some of the choices made just seem out of keeping with the characters - especially the sexual relations between the two main characters. Some reality checks seem to be needed en route in this story. I actually think the story itself is potentially fantastic, but has problems because the character actions don't always synch with their portrayed beliefs. I will still look out for other books by this author as I quite like her writing style and believe she is capable of writing a really superb book - just miss out the sexual interactions, please!Having submitted to a paternity test and awaiting the results would such a supposedly intelligent, responsible marine really have unprotected sex - especially with someone who hates marines and is acknowledged to be working brilliantly to help his Uncle? Would a woman who has been brought up to hate marines because she really believes one raped and killed her Mum and is a virgin jump into bed with a marine this quickly? Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the story itself, the mystery and watching it unfold. The chemistry between the 2 main characters was hot. Once i got pass the some of the language used to describe sexually what the male lead wanted to do, i really enjoyed the story.

This is my first time reading anything by this author & it may be my last. For Sandella to have been a virgin she seemed to be very sexually experienced & gave no thought to using protection. She sells 100 pies online in one day but how did she fill the orders with no place to bake them. When it's realized she is in danger & she is told to not return to her father's home she ends up there without her body guard. How does her father end up with Theresa when her house is set on fire? There is no explanation as to how they knew each other. And last but not least the rapist & killer is shot by his father, the father is then shot & killed but then the story line says he is going to jail for life. Either you are going to jail or you are dead, which one is it. It's like she was writing two different books & forgot the story line. Thank goodness this book was free & I didn't pay for it.

All I can say is this was a very interesting book. The main character was a little too naive for my taste. Interesting story line and the mystery of who murdered her mother was off the chart; keeps you guessing and just when you think you havethe answer "bam" another clue is introduced. The only book I have ever read that I disliked all the characters. Think the hatred of marines by the father was a bit much.

I listen from my Nook HD tablet, and from the story of the couple in this book, this book is HOT because she tells and actually finishes the story in the book, most author's leave the reader trying to figure-out what happens next she gives and finishes what happens and I love the authors who won't leave the reader hanging out to dry! It's not a good read it's a Great Read

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Well-written suspenseful read. I disliked most of the characters of the characters. There were many villains in this story. I was glad when they caught the killer and some of them got their punishment. I was hoping more of them would be punished for their part in this tragedy.  Recommendation: Tragic, emotional read.
