This book has it all, including even the newer heroes added to the Marvel universe! Understandably, the more 'popular' characters get a more in-depth backstory (and more pages), and some of the lesser known heroes and villains get not much more than a paragraph (which i feel some of the lesser known heroes with big backstories should get much more so people can learn about them). Otherwise, the book is filled with tons of information, therefore very heavy, and I'm not sure the paper book cover (it's a hardback with a paper cover) will be able to stand its weight with normal use. Be careful leaving this at the coffee table -- it WILL get a lot of attention and usage from your guests! I would definitely recommend this book to Marvel fans of all ages -- the artwork drawn for each character spans through generations (some drawn old style, some drawn new style), so for the very young, some of the new style drawn female heroines may be a bit too scantily clad for a parents' taste, but nothing is ever displayed inappropriately. Also, it does mention the sexual preference of some of the gay heroes, which, in my opinion, is a wonderful step for Marvel, and continues to fall under their very forward movement that being different is more than OK! Children will be able to relate to characters that have been ostracized or discriminated against for being a mutant, or different, than society's norms.

I like this book because if there is something I don't know about a superhero then I can just look it up. I would recommend this book to anyone!
