I heard about the book about a year ago and it took me some time to get around to actually purchasing and reading it. This book was great! I found myself trying to tell others about all the gems inside the book. I could imagine the entire quest to the Ivory Tower through the description that Mr. Croom provided. I am going to have to buy a copy for my sister now. Great read!

Wow! I had a great time reading this book! It was truly amazing. I've been reading text books so long that I had forgotten what good literature really is. This book, however, was not only entertaining, but inspirational. MANY times throughout the novel I stopped reading to self reflect. I can hardly express myself correctly, but the book just means so much to my life. I think EVERYONE should read this book, it is now one of my favorites.

Marvin and the Man reads like an Orwellian tale full of contemporary wisdom provoking readers to think outside the box, while dealing with the notion of others making up our public persona with misinformation. Herbert & Marvin endure a Hobbit-esque trek through a world very much like & unlike our own. The prison scenes conjure up images of Kafka's existentialist penal system that indiscriminately punishes the innocent & guilty alike. At some times, all of the unknown forces seem to be working against Herbert and Marvin, but through adversity Marvin and the Man manages to deliver a message celebrating personal freedom and the confrontation of truth and what looks back at us in the mirror.

I just finished reading this book yesterday and I must say that I was extremely impressed. One of my favorite books is 'The Alchemist' because of the themes found throughout the pages. I always feel the need to have a notepad and a pen while reading it because there are SOOO many messages embedded in the lines. Marvin and the Man evoked that same feeling. I have already found myself quoting parts of the book during conversations with friends which is DEFINITELY a great thing! The book is not race, gender, or age specific. It's a timely testament to finding your purpose and learning how to simply 'get out of your own way.' It has made me rethink the path that I'm on and the final destination that I want to pursue. This book helps the reader understand what it means to be 'AWARE' and 'PURPOSE-DRIVEN.' Kudos to the author and I encourage everyone to pick up a copy (for yourself and possibly as a gift for someone else)
