I liked this third story but thought the characters were boring unlike the previous books in the series. I wish there was more interaction with characters from the previous books. Sophia is searching for her families treasures when she stumbles across Victor. She hasn't seen him in years. Victor hasn't been able to forget her. He helps her find what has been stolen.

Sophia di Contini has to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the things she holds dear to make a difference in her world around her. Posing as a maid can be tricky business and a little dangerous as she finds out. But it can also hold a great deal of pleasure as she is thrust back into the life of the one that got away. Or shall I say she walked away from. Victor Cameron has his life already full with prospects of strikes and picketing from the works in his various businesses and tenants. The last thing he needs was a woman. And not just any woman. The one. Intrigue with a bit of suspense. This regency historical romance gave a bit more than your average read. There was bits a piece on the Napoleonic Wars and the siblings themselves. Thou not prominent in the story overall. It lead to good reading. Watching the rebuilding of their relationship, then to watch it fall away, and then to be built again was warm fuzzies. I enjoyed the read and look forward to seeing more from Ms. DeLand and the Regency Romp series. **This eBook was provided by NK Author Services the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Book exchanged for an honest review~ If Victor Cameron has but one regret it's letting go of Sophia Di Contini four years ago. Yet what Victor can't forgive is her betrayal of him all those years ago. When he spots a maid with Sophia's hair coloring he's intrigued to know more only to discover that it is in fact Sophia herself~he's stunned. Sophia running into Victor was not part of her plan to regain her family treasures but she can't let him or anyone else stop her from finding them. Sophia knew she was well and truly caught when Victor rescues her at masquerade ball. Now Sophia mustn't allow her feelings to cloud her judgement not when she's so close. Victor doesn't know if he wants to throttle or kiss Sophia into submission but neither of those things will help him understand what happened to Sophia. Victor decides to help Sophia gain her treasures but can he resist the temptation Sophia presents? Will Sophia's treasures be found? Will either Sophia and Victor admit their feelings? Your answers await you in Masquerade With a Marquess. This new to me author really captured my imagination with this story and characters. I normally don't like starting a new book in the middle of a series. However I found that some of the backstory was presented in such a way that made it easier to read this story like a standalone. The characters and story were flawed in a good way, real, honest, raw, and down to earth. I'll definitely consider this author again for any new books.

Sophia has come to England from Italy to find two paintings that belonged to her family and were stolen. She is found at a masquerade by distant relatives who open their home to her. While not wanting to rekindle her one-night stand with Victor, she is unable to keep her distance from him. But he knows Sophia is hiding the truth from him as well as the importance of the paintings she seeks. I enjoyed this story very much. Sophia and Victor are two complex characters who were fascinating to watch to see which one would open up first. Both needed honesty but were unable to trust because of their separate, and combined, pasts. Both are wary of each other as well as their need for each other. When they let their walls fall, they can reclaim their pasts and their love. I also liked the secondary characters. They move the story along but they are an interesting group as many of them were spies. I would like to see some of them in their own stories (besides the ones that have been released.) I would especially like to know what goes on between Wainwright and Victor's step-mother. There is also a story about Victor's father and Elizabeth, his third wife. Victor makes some statements I like to understand better. The story line kept my interest. I wanted to know what was so important that Sophia risked her reputation to get back those paintings and how far she was willing to go. I liked how the past was woven into the story so that I knew what had happened. There is enough suspense here as well as romance. MASQUERADE WITH A MARQUESS is a wonderful read. I look forward to the next story in this series.

Sophia is not afraid to get her hands dirty. She is willing to risk it all because the reward far outweighs the cost for her. A courageous woman but a dangerous way to live. Masquerade with a Marquess explores a time in history that was uncertain through the eyes of a woman that feeds off her convictions, strength and the injustice of that era. That Ms. DeLand managed to get a love story that spans distance, poverty and the unknown circumstances made this story an intriguing journey.

Masquerade With A Marquess is my first book by Cerise DeLand. What a pleasant surprise. Masquerade With A Marquess is a well written book. Sophia and Victor's story is loaded with lovable characters, suspense, humor and drama. This exciting read kept me up late so I could finish the book. I enjoyed Masquerade With A Marquess and look forward to reading more form Cerise DeLand in the future. Masquerade With A Marquess is book 3 of the Regency Romp Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

Sophie's plight caught my interest. Bringing the harsher facts of that time period also drew me. After everything that Sophie had been through, she remained determined to succeed in her task. She also has the strength to know that her dreams have changed. Victor had his memories which he could never forget. He cared enough to help a woman who did not plan on staying with him. The story moved along very quickly and I now look forward to reading the stories before this one and any that follow. I recommend this author.

"MASQUERADE WITH A MARQUESS: Regency Romp 3 With a Spark of Suspense" by Cerise DeLand. While, Book 3, it can be read as a stand alone. Fast paced, well written with well developed characters and a unique storyline. This is Victor Cameron and Sophia di Contini's story, and what a story, full of surprises, intrigue, passion, mystery, a bit of suspense, one family's missing Art pieces from France, and romance. There are a few twists and turns along the way. Ms. DeLand is a talented author, who brought Regency England and the travesty of the French Terror to life through the pages and lives of her characters. While, I felt Sophia was a bit selfish and careless, at times, she was a lovely Lady, trying to right wrongs perpetrated upon her family and loved ones. Victor, was a bit overbearing at times, as he had loved Sophia for years and still does, he only wants to help her in her quest and love her forever. But will Sophia's secrecy, and determination not to lose another person she loves, cause a rift in their blossoming love? After reading this story, I do feel the reader would understand better Sophia's behavior, her family's deaths, and more of what actually happened during that time in France, by reading the other two stories in the series first. I think the reader might more on her family's duplicity during the French Terror, which the author touches on in this story. Readers of Historical Mystery, a bit of suspense and romance, will find themselves turning pages, as they learn the secrets of Sophia di Contini and why she's really in England, and why all the secrecy. Well worth the time to read. A wonderful romp through Regency England. A must read! Enjoyable and satisfying read! I can't wait for the next installment. *Received for an honest review from the author* Rating: 4 Heat rating: Mild Reviewed by: AprilR, courtesy of My Book Addiction and More
