This tale of adventure, magic, and romance will enchant fans of Fantasy/PNR and perhaps, given the chance, win readers who have not delved into this genre. Silhara of Neith, Master of Crows, lives away from most of the ruling mage community called the Conclave. Silhara is a renegade and the mage-priests know he is powerful and dangerous. Silhara has been desperately battling an evil god, Corruption, who wants to take him over and rule the world. Sent by the other mages ostensibly as an apprentice to spy on Silhara, Martise of Asher, a servant, slave, and scholar, works with Silhara deciphering ancient texts in hopes of finding a way to defeat Corruption. As they work together, Silhara and Martise realize a deep bond between them has formed; however, Silhara must make a brutal choice in order to save the world from evil. Martise’s quiet courage and determination to help him no matter the personal cost to herself stuns Shilhara because he has known little love or kindness in his life. Silhara seems at first an unlikely hero. He is gruff, a demanding task master, and visibly as well as physically scarred from a cruel past. Martise seems a meek little mouse initially, but she has a strength and determination to withstand even the most difficult odds. Heroism is not only found in those with a sword and shield. Silhara and Martise show that despite their exigent and difficult circumstances, the one freedom they have is to choose love over hate, good over evil, and self-sacrifice for the good of others. MASTER OF CROWS comprises a beautifully written tale with a fascinating and captivating unique world. Ms. Draven’s writing has an elegance and style that makes this journey to new places a true pleasure to read. The world-building, characters, and story will deeply engrain itself into the reader creating a desire to know more about this author’s body of works in this truly enchanting realm of fantasy, magic, and romance.

Honestly this book was really an enjoyable read! I love the characters, plot, romance and action. When I found this book I was looking for a story that had a little of everything but I really wanted to enjoy a book with wizards and magic though not many things popped up that had the setting or type of fantasy story I wanted but this book made my day. l bought it early in the morning and I didn't even realize that it was like 2am the next day by the time I finished cause I just had to finish it. Anyway if you want a good fantasy with romance... (cause I'm all about romance balanced with action) I would suggest getting this book and follow Martise on her journey with Silhara the Master of Crows.

Richly drawn characters and excellent world building In Master of Crows, Grace Draven masterfully creates a complex world and beautifully drawn characters that you could easily imagine in front of you occurring in a distant time and place. I won't go into the plot details as that is more than adequately covered by the synopsis and by other reviewers. Although the tale takes place almost entirely at Neith, the home of Silhara, (with a few side trips), the scenes are not confining, and the steady pace as everything unfolds is just right. The gradually building relationship between the initial adversaries Silhara and Martise is a delight to witness, and the increasing intent of Corruption's influence over Silhara is a source of progressive dread. Add in the interactions among a sardonic anti-hero, an unassuming but surprisingly feisty heroine, and a mute but colorfully "spoken" servant, not to mention an enemy god and master mage, and you have the makings of a wonderful, unforgettable novel. Since discovering this book in 2013, I've returned to it at least once a week. Among my favorites scenes: the market place, the home of the lich, and the culminating battle. You'll understand why when you read them. Note: Although there is some sex in the book, it is not central to the tale or the characters, and it is not gratuitous. In short, Master of Crows is one of those books that you will want to read and reread, time and again

This book was nice, but the first 100 pages were kind of slow. I wanted the story to move a little faster, after that it picked up fast. If there is another one in this series I will read it.

This book took me totally by surprise. I read the author's other book "Entreat Me" and found it good and above average. This book is even better. The characters were well written. Their relationship had ups and downs and twists and turns. I actually cried at the climax of the story. Grace Craven is a really wonderful author.
