Mastering Her Senses (Blasphemy) by Laura Kaye

He wants to dominate her senses—and her heart…

Quinton Ross has always been a thrill-seeker—so it's no surprise that he's drawn to extremes in the bedroom and at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, where he creates sense-depriving scenarios that blow submissives' minds. Now if he could just find one who needs the rush as much as him…

When an accident leaves Cassia Locke with a paralyzing fear of the dark, she'll try anything to get help. Ready to fight, she knows just who to ask for help—the hard-bodied, funny-as-hell Dom she'd always crushed on—and once stood up.

Quinton is shocked and a little leery to see Cassia, but he can't pass up the chance to dominate the alluring little sub this time. Introducing her to sensory deprivation becomes his new favorite obsession, and watching her fight fear is its own thrill. But when doubt threatens to send her running again, Quinton must find a way to master her senses—and her heart.

Wow, book 2 just blew me away. This story gives us Master Quinton who we met in the previous book. He is a Master Dom at Blasphemy. Cassia isn't new to Blasphemy, but she hasn't been there in a long while. Quinton went running to one of the rooms in their club and who does he find on the floor shaking beyond belief? A sub who had enjoyed some time ago. Where had she been? And what was happening now? This is one super sexy book, these two don't want anything outside of the club, but life always takes turns and sometimes there are exactly the right ones. I really enjoyed this story in the series, and I am eagerly awaiting the next.

Cassia Locke has struggled with a fear of the dark ever since she was trapped for three days in a cave-in. Returning to the exclusive BDSM club, Blasphemy, Cassia hopes to conquer her fear but a panic attack gets the better of her. When bartender and Master, Quinton Ross, comes to Cassia's rescue he recognizes her from years before. Quinton's kink for sensory deprivation and playing with the mind is the perfect solution to help Cassia regain control of her life. But what starts out as no-strings quickly turns to more as they each find a partner who truly understands the other. I really enjoyed Mastering Her Senses, even more than the first! Cassia is such a strong woman who's been brought down by a phobia and she's desperate to overcome it. A fear of darkness has taken over all parts of Cassia's life but with Quinton, she finds a safe place to explore. The best part of Cassia is her humor and how she handles everything that comes her way with a smile or a joke. This makes her a perfect match for Quinton who's charming, sexy, and a bit of a goofball. They don't take themselves too seriously and they both have a zest for living. As Cassia begins to fight back against her fears she finds chemistry like she's never experienced with Quinton. Their scenes are off the charts and so incredibly HOT! Quinton knows how to seduce a woman's mind, body, and soul and he had me reaching for the fan with some of their play. I would have loved a deeper look into how Quinton's kink developed because I found it truly fascinating. Even outside the bedroom, Cassia and Quinton enjoy life and have the best time together. Of course, there are some ups and downs as Cassia struggles but Quinton is always there to help and support her and their trust in each other was deep and inspiring. They fall in love quickly but I enjoyed every second of it! As an added bonus, Cassia is actually the sister of Jagger from the Raven Riders series. It was great to get a little crossover and see some of the other Ravens for a brief bit.

Mastering Her Senses by Laura Kaye is one mega hot novel that will leave you breathless. I picked this book up as apart of the anthology A Love Thing - I was told by the amazing author Tamsen Parker that the anthology book (full of tons of sexy ebooks) was free on Amazon, so I picked it up. I had already read Tamsen's books and loved it, so I figured her book Personal Geography had to be alongside some books similar that I might enjoy. Luckily, I was right! I really enjoyed this novel! It was fast paced, super sexy and kept me interested and hooked to every word! I love a sexy, erotic novel but I tend to get bored easily (which is one of my biggest flaws as a reader). Laura Kaye mixes the perfect amount of drama, sexy scenes and excitement in this book. We are introduced to Cassia, who is a submissive, and Quinton (Q) who is a dominant. Now, that's all fine and dandy and your typical BDSM trope, but Laura has more instore for us - Q likes sensory deprivation. Yup, that's right. I have honestly never read a book in regards to that subject before, so this was a new adventure for me (and it was a crazy, sexy adventure that was so totally worth it!). The premise was interesting, and it makes this book stand out among other erotica novels. Side note: This book is the second in the series, but I have not read the first one as of writing this review. The book was easily understood without having to read the first novel. I also found the book to just be long enough. It ended where you'd like it to in terms of the story telling - there wasn't any more information I wanted out of the book, and I didn't feel like it had been cut short. The book is also super sweet and leaves at an ending that made me feel all happy and ooey gooey inside. Overall, this book is epic! I love Laura Kaye's writing in this book and I 100% want to read more ASAP! It's a must read from me!! I definitely want to read more by Laura Kaye! I might have found a new favourite author out of this anthology (and I'm only on the first book, so I'm sure I'll find some more authors to read after I finished!). PS Thanks to Tamsen Parker for suggesting I pick up this anthology!! Five out of five stars.

I enjoyed reading this book. There were some parts that made it seem like teenage love affair, it was just off from the characters ( like when the author had the Dom say dude- it just didn't fit for me) This is a softer version of BDSM then most. Most I've read deal with a more dominating sense where in this the sub seems to get away with alot more and punishments are not really punishments as I've seen in harsher books. I still did enjoy this and would recommend for anyone interested in a neat lighter BDSM series :)

Sensually raw and addictive! This is my favorite book so far in the Blasphemy series. The characters are so real and true with each other that it really makes you feel their connection. He can ease her fear like no one else, and she makes him feel more than he ever thought was possible. It's a joy to watch them bring each other to life ... and reap the rewards! Cassia Locke used to enjoy playing at the Blasphemy club ... especially flirting with Master Quinton who she was majorly crushing on! Two years ago, she inadvertently stood him up for a play date because she was caught in the middle of a collapse in a cave. Since then, she's been crippled with fear of the dark. She's finally back with one goal in mind ... conquering that fear once and for all! Quinton Ross is one of the Doms that owns Blasphemy, and when Cassia's return stirs up a panic, he steps in to calm the situation ... and the sub! He's a little hesitant once he realizes who she is ... but once he hears her story, he jumps at the chance to be her soft place to fall as she tries to conquer this fear. He's notorious for his sensory deprivation scenes, so he seems like a great match to help her ... but will temptation be too much to handle and leave them both wanting more than just some temporary playtime??

The love and trust shared between a dominant and his submissive is a beautiful thing. This series has me wishing I could be that woman.

A rare book where the author does a good job with plotting and character development and other things you don't always find done well. I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

I loved this book! Watching Cassia become whole through hard work and a willingness to try anything to overcome PTSD was inspiring! And having a willing Dom want to help? The BEST!!!

This one seems to be getting mixed reviews, but I liked it quite a bit. Cassia had some fairly heavy duty phobias that had pretty much caused her to put her life on hold for two years, and watching Quinton throw himself into figuring out how to help her overcome them (in an erotic/D/s kind of way) was sweet. And...not sweet at the same time ;) It did feel a bit rushed at times--Cass and Quinton did have a history, but we didn't really get to see it, and they moved a bit quickly to declarations at the end (though the intensity of their...ahem, other scenes might contribute to that somewhat)--but it wasn't outside the realm of believability. And whoa, was Quinton ever creative... :D Though several of Blasphemy's other owners made appearances (along with a few characters from other series), this one worked just fine as a standalone. Ten more Doms to go! Rating: 4 stars /B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Laura Kaye's Mastering Her Senses is nothing less than Erotic Romance perfection. The perfect blend of emotion filled drama, heart-melting romance, and explorations in sensual dominance. This is the perfect read for the intelligent sensualist. The caring and observant nature of leading man and Master Quinton Ross, is a lock and key fit to his leading lady's very specific needs and desires. While leading lady, Cassia Locke's phobia of the dark, and the trauma surrounding it, takes what happens as a result of it to new and hitherto unexplored levels of psychological and sexual gravity for both characters and readers. Laura Kaye's stories are so captivating that readers are literally immersed in every aspect of them, for as long as the pages are turning. Her characters are highly intelligent, emotionally mature, and sexually complex. Her understanding of the aspects of Dominance Play used in this story are spot on, and exquisitely represented...and the sex is HOT AS HELL! This reviewer can honestly say that Laura Kaye has now been added to my insta-buy list, and should defiantly be at the top of that of ANY Erotic Romance fan. Reviewer's Note: This book is the second in a loosely related companion series. It may however, be enjoyed as part of its intended series, or as a standalone.

When Quinton rescues a sub in distress, he's surprised to find she's the woman who stood him up years ago. He's immediately intrigued with her and is shocked to discover why he hasn't seen her in the club since. Cassie has some serious issues she is working through and she's hoping that she can overcome her phobia for the dark at the club. Her attempt to shut out her fear fails and puts Quinton into the position to offer her his expertise as a master, and he doesn't do anything halfway. Even though they agree there are "no strings attached" because they both feel they aren't looking for a relationship, their spark together just can't be denied. Mastering Her Senses is hot hot hot. Quinton is a master at a lot of things, especially knowing just what delicious words to say to get Cassie right where he wants her. There's a perfect mix of D/s scenes, along with a very tender and sweet romance. I love a guy who falls hard and Quinton is all about that. Fun, steamy and sweet = 5 stars

Another great series by Laura Kate. This is the first book I read in the series and I loved it! I can't wait to read more. If you love Lecie Blake, Cherise Sinclair then you will love this series too. Happy Reading:)

4.5 stars for this sweet and sexy BDSM romance. Cassia is a geologist who'd spent her career studying caves, up until two years ago. That's when she was buried in a cave-in that killed two of her co-workers and from which she barely survived. Trapped in the dark for days, injured, and with no assurance she would be rescued, has left Cassia with an intense fear of the dark that's caused her personal and professional lives to be tipped upside-down. She can no longer explore caves, and had to find a desk job that brought her back to Baltimore. Personally, she'd given up her interest in submission, because what Dom wants a sub that's afraid to be blindfolded? Still, Cassia's a determined woman who wants to take charge of her life again--and she turns to Club Blasphemy, where she has once been a member, to make it happen. Good thing Master Quinton is there to help her when she stumbles! Quinton barely recognized Cassia as the sub who stood him up a couple of years ago. They'd had fun, casually, but finding her in a full-out panic inside the "dark room" wasn't how he'd anticipated reconnecting. Once he's able to help her through the worst of it, Quinton demands the full story--Cassia hadn't been playing safe if she wasn't willing to having a darkness phobia. (I swear to goodness, I totally felt for Cassia in that moment. I'm that same stubborn-type of person who thinks "I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to--even if I have to force it," much to my hubby's chagrin!) While Cassia's embarrassed and a bit humbled--she's also encouraged by how kind and gentle Quinton is, and soothed by his attention. It's a no-brainer for her to accept his offer at darkness desensitization. And that's not only because she finds him totally sexy. The man knows sensory stimulation, as she remembers from her interactions with him before her cave-in experience. What happens next? Lots and lots of sexytimes. I really thought the way Cassia's phobia was handled was great. Quinton's a "master" for many reasons, but holy smokes, he mostly turns Cassia inside-out under varying degrees of darkness. When they take their incendiary passion back to her place, she spends her first, second, and third nights sleeping without a night lamp since she'd survived the cave-in. I loved how these two grew together over more than just their shared kink. Their no-strings "therapeutic" sex-capades soon turn into dates and adventures that have nothing to do with sexy-dark-interludes, but deepen the connection between them. I think I would have liked a scene that showed Cassia dealing with the dark on her own--to see how she'd grown past some of her fears, I wasn't sad with the happy ending. Not at all.

Mastering Her Senses is everything I crave and more in a BDSM romance; and what I come to expect from Laura Kaye. Master Quinton is a very captivating Dom, from the beginning I found myself being drawn to him and his caring heart. Two years ago, Master Q was to do a scene with a sub named Cassia, but that chance never came as for Submissive Cassia stood Master Q up. Now with Cassia back in the scene Master Q would like an answer to that very question. Will Cassia give it willingly or will it take Master Q special talents to convince her? Cassia comes back to Blasphemy after a two-year stint, her last memory was of the scene she was to do with Master Q. Unfortunately, her life took a different direction when Cassia finds herself struggling to stay alive. Suffering from panic attacks can Cassia overcome this road block, to free herself from the nightmare. Can she let Master Q in to help? As each scene develops between Master Q and Cassia my heart rate picks up. From the beginning their connection is strong, and only grows stronger throughout Mastering Her Senses. Ms. Kaye delivers on the special bond I like seeing in her stories. Master Q and Cassia’s bond is more than sexual it is healing on both sides. Can that be enough for them to build their D/s relationship? I had a range of emotions flowing from Laughter, to tears and in the end understanding and love. Supporting characters are the other Dom’s from club Blasphemy, who I adore immensely. I was happy to see Ms. Kaye bringing them all back to lend support to Master Q and Cassia. Laura Kaye knows how to pen an intense story that hooks me from the beginning and leaves me with wanting more. *grins* Ms. Kaye’s characters are easy to love, even in times of struggle. Mastering Her Senses is book two in the Blasphemy Series. I can’t wait to see which Dom is going down next. Rated 5 Stilettos and a Recommended Read by Deb!

Mastering Her Senses is the third book in this incredible series. There are 12 altogether, which gives me a giddy glee that there are so many more coming. It just delights all of my subbie senses as well. This is one BDSM club that should seriously be built, it sounds like a kink-lovers playground. In this third installment, we get to play with our resident bar manager, Q, or Master Quentin Ross. If you may remember, he’s the one who likes using the senses, and operates the deprivation tank. Who more perfect for him than sub Cassia Locke? She has a phobia of the dark, and for a good reason. (which you can read about.) After finding her in a state of panic, he takes her on and decides to help her out. This was yet another book filled with yummy BDSM decadence, a nice romance, and some incredible writing on Laura Kaye’s part. We also get to see some cross story with the Raven Riders series as Cassia’s brother is one of their members. If you are looking for a new BDSM series to read, then this is most definitely the one you want to pick up. You won’t be sorry!!!

The Blasphemy series is the only thing I’ve read from author Laura Kaye, but I’m happy to say that I’ve found a new author to add to my faves. Mastering Her Senses is book 2 in the series, and it’s Master Quinton’s story. He’s one of 12 masters running the exclusive BDSM club, Blasphemy. Master Quinton and the submissive, Cassia, had made plans to meet for a scene, but Cassia never showed. Now, two years later, she appears back at Blasphemy looking to return to the lifestyle. Quinton is intrigued, not just because he wants to know why she stood him up, but because his interest in sensory deprivation seems to be just what Cassia needs. Most Doms in BDSM stories are intense and intimidating, both in a scene and out. There’s something different about Master Quinton, though. While there’s no question he’s serious about the lifestyle, he also has a soft side that absolutely won me over. It was easy to tell from the beginning that it wouldn’t be long before Quinton and Cassia’s no-strings-attached arrangement would be short lived. Strings seem to have a mind of their own, as they both began to realize. Mastering Her Senses has all the stuff I look for in an erotic romance, but with a tender angle that I absolutely adored. Four-and-a-half stars.
