THis summary is about a book called:The Matchlock Gun and it's about three people Gertrude (mother) Trudy (daughter) and Edward (son). now these three people live in the woods in a little town and the father goes to war. The thing is he hasn't returned for four days. So Gertrude comes up with an plan to defend there home but it works and fails because five Indians get past the army and following the smell of food and Edward shot the gun three Indians died and it gets even better the house sets on fire. I would give it three stars because i was going to give it a four until the ending. Here is the exact ending: plump Trudy woke up and said bergom op zoom while pointing solemly at Edward. I just dont get it!

The Matchlock Gun is a well written story about a small boy who saves his family from Indians. It is not long or difficult to read, yet there will be plenty to talk about after reading. An excellent choice for group discussion. I really enjoyed reading this book.

This short story was great! It gave you a feel of how it would be like to live at that time and how they felt towards the indians and the French. This auther gave a great description of how life was back then. He used a good and easy to follow storyline. I would recommend this book to anyone!
