As the beast within struggles to break free, he must learn to be what she needs...

Surviving for centuries, powerful lupine shifter Jayce Kazan managed to stay away from humans until he met Kat Saburova and was consumed by the need to protect her. But while Jayce shared his passion with the human seer, he refused to make her his bondmate—a refusal that caused the end of their relationship.

A year later, an attack that left Kat near death has resulted in another lupine shifter turning her. Furious that he wasn’t the one to save her, Jayce is determined to show Kat that he is the one she should rely on. But the newly turned shifter is still traumatized and worried that she’ll hurt those she loves, unless she can learn to control her inner wolf.

And as Jayce struggles to protect Kat from her own worst instincts and convince her to rekindle their love, the extremists who almost killed her are looking to finish the job…

About the Author

Katie Reus fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she’d pilfered from her mom’s stash. After changing majors too many times to count, she finally graduated with a degree in psychology. She now spends her days writing dark paranormal romance. When she’s not creating stories, she can usually be found spending time with her family or one of the many animals they’ve adopted over the years.

It was so easy to get into Jayce and Kat's story. I enjoyed the fact that Katie was able to set up scenes for other books to come out. It was like getting a sneek peak into a new book that would soon be coming. This story flowed perfectly. It was like you can imagine it really going on. Kat is a strong person who got stronger as the story went. She wanted to prove to herself that she could take care of herself if needed. She was guarding herself from being hurt a second time from Jayce. She was holding back her feelings. She thought there would be no chance of them ever making it work. Jayce had stated his claim right in the begining of the book. He was jealous and stubborn. I loved that he expressed his feelings first. Kat and Jayce balanced each other.

*I do not reveal spoilers from this story but do discuss the previous books in this review* Initial: Wow, this was great story. I could not put it down, Jayce and Kat pulled me into their story. I think I have a new favorite alpha wolf. Story thoughts: I am a huge fan of the world Katie Reus has built in this series. I love the idea of a world where we know paranormal beings exist; it is the perfect setting for some great conflict and growth. And this story hits the mark. We are still dealing with Kat’s kidnapping by the by the Anti-paranormal league (APL) and her transformation into a wolf from Primal Possession. In this installment, people are being attacked and it is assumed it is a shifter so there is more pressure on the Armstrong-Cordona pack to keep safe and stick together. The APL is still moving forward with its plans to destroy the relationship the pack has with the surrounding area. Character Thoughts: What can I say, I love Jayce and Kat. We learn more about their past and how they both have issues they need to overcome before they can be truly happy together. I love it when a character’s emotions pull me into their world. Jayce is so alpha male, at points I was frustrated with his alpha ways but he has this outer shell that is slowly cracking when he is around Kat, that side of him is just perfect. He is really struggling with understanding his feelings about Kat. Now, Kat is strong female, all the woman in this series are strong. I like this balance with the male characters, keeps them on their toes. Kat is now dealing with some serious issues- the kidnapping and becoming a wolf. This alone is enough to make anyone crack but she finds a reason to fight her demons, and this includes letting Jayce in. Favorite quote: Aiden just chuckled. “I can take care of myself. It’s fun to mess with males fighting their mating instinct.” Final thoughts: Loved this book. I am sad I have to wait months for the next book in this series.

I am still trying to finish this book. It just keeps dragging at parts. Not as smooth a read as the first two books in this series.

"Mating Instinct", the third book the Moon Shifter series has become my FAVE out of the series so far. I had a hard time putting down this book. (I seriously gave my hubby the evil eye whenever he interrupted me while I was reading this book....Needless to say, he learned his lesson) =) ( First off, I highly recommend you read this series in order. Katie continues each book where it is left off at, but with different characters. ) Kat Saburova is adjusting to her new life as a shifter, and she's trying to get over what happened to her in "Primal Possession", but she's having a difficult time. She's realizing being a shifter requires following pack laws, but it is going to take time to learn them all. She also needs someone to teach her the pack laws. In the mean time though, she has Jayce Kazan to worry about. He was her past love and now he is making it known he wants back in her life. Kat is not making it easy for him. He is trying to make amends with her and let her know what happened in the past and why he lied to her about the bond...but Kat is being more than difficult. Jayce Kazan is one of the enforcers to the shifters and he is town on official business, as well as taking care of Kat...or at least trying to. He is going to step up and teach her how being shifter is like and take care of her training. Kat has her goals set on vengeance against the APL and she'll do everything in her power on making that vengeance come true without the pack. Unfortunately, the APL has their own plans. In fact someone is putting the blame on shifters on recent killings in the town, but none of Conner's pack has any involvement in it. Jayce is trying to figure out another matter, but he is also going to find out who is actually putting the bad spotlight on the shifters as well. "Mating Instinct" is a ride full of sexual tension, suspense, and emotions that will make you keep turning the page. You'll fall in love with these shifters and will be determined to get rid of the APL just like they are. Kat and Jayce have to be my fave couple out of this series so far. I clicked with Kat because even after everything she went through in the second book, she has proven she is a strong female character and she is not to be messed with. She's stubborn at times and a little reckless, but she is such an amazing match for Jayce. Jayce is strong willed as well and very determined to prove to Kat, he loves her. It just takes him an awful darn long time to say it to her and prove it. Have I mentioned he's powerful, scary, and sexy? Oh I haven't...well now you know what I friggin' love him. =) This book even made me hungry while reading it. I was craving chocolate while reading certain scenes. =) (*evil smile*) Let's just say Jayce's scent that Kat is smelling every time he gets worked what I'm referring to. (*another evil smile*) I love how Katie continues each book where it was left off at, but of course with different characters to continue the story. She does continue the story of previous characters into each book so you know what the characters are up to. Connor plays a major role in this book and Liam shows up as well, who were the lead male characters from the other books. I love me some Liam and Connor....but for some reason Jayce stole my heart more after reading "Mating Instinct". Maybe it was the chocolate...or maybe it was because he came back to Kat. If you have read the first two books in the series, you'll definitely enjoy this installment. If you haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for? Add it to your TBR to read later or get it when it comes out and start reading. I am really curious on what is going to happen next, especially when it comes to the APL. Will they ever find out who is really running the show...and what about certain characters that I want to find out more about. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 full moons. If you love the paranormal romance genre, love shifters, and love Katie definitely need to read this book and series. =) I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Katie Reus has a talent for writing dark, intense, hot alpha characters with kick-ass heroines who knows how to tame the beast. This is why I am a hug fan of this author. She hit the mark with Jayce Kazan and Kat Saburova. I fell for this couple back in Primal Possession when the author gave us glimpses of their relationship. Jayce and Kat had a passionate relationship when Kat was a human. She walked away from him after learning he lied to her about turning her into a shifter instead he just did not want to bond with her Fast forward a year later, Kat is attacked so severely she nearly dies. She is turned into a shifter to save her by another shifter. Now, everywhere she turns there is Jayce. Is he hanging around because he is guilty or because he can now be with her because she is a shifter? These are the questions Kat struggles with along with learning how to live in a world that involves packs and alphas. Jayce the enforcer-the one who metes out justice. He is a loner-all other shifters fear him. Yet one small woman is capable of bringing him to his knees. Kat-whom he loves but fears the danger he will bring to her. I loved this character. We were able to get into this strong alpha's head, feel his vulnerability when it came to his "mate", and watch his internal fight between his human side his primal side. There were some parts of the story that I had a few issues with. First, Brianna appears in first couple of chapters but disappears later in book. Which is okay since she was not the center of the story; however, she played a significant role when it came to the APL (Antiparanormal League) and I was surprised she was not more involved in the later scenes that involved primary members of the APL. I had expected to see a closing scene with Brianna and the APL member's wife. It just seemed like she disappeared or was forgotten. I definitely want to learn more about the Fiannas (fae warriors). Secondly, speaking of the APL, I must admit that I was a little bored with this storyline than I was in the previous books. The APL is basically a hate group that wants to rid the town of all shifters. In Primal Possession the plot involving the APL was so intense and emotionally charged that I expected that to continue in Mating Instinct. Especially since Kat suffered a severe attack from them. Instead, what appeared to be the ending of the APL, felt flat and anti-climatic. The author has a talent for going to the heart of a violent, intense attack. She pulls no punches, this is why I was disappointed with the APL scenes. Katie Reus has an uncanny knack for writing deep, intense, in depth characters. This Moon Shifter series continues to get better. This series can go into so many directions and I am happy to go along for the ride.
