It's one thing to hide out in a Colorado tourist town full of liquor and beautiful women. Work hard, play harder. But what happens when a feud with rival restaurant managers forces an unflattering glimpse in the funhouse mirror? Who's the hero? Who's the villain? It might finally be time to choose sides.

I am a huge fan of this book. Riveting from the first page, naughty, and fascinating. There are so many books in this world, it can be hard to sift through them all and decide which to get and actually read. GET THIS ONE.
Having spent 30 years in restaurants, I had just about given up on finding an honest portrayal of what it's like to work and live in the service industry. Then I read Richter's novel. This book is like a USB cable to funny, sad, sexy and demented. The prose is distilled and direct. And, embedded in the lunacy, the author has something profound to say about choosing sides and living an ethical life in an asylum. "Mating Rituals" is a funny, twisted work of art.
