The Matrimony Plan by Christine Johnson is an exciting romantic story filled with wonderful characters, mistaken identities, and historical details. Felicity is a rich society girl determined to marry a wealthy engineer who is new in town. Only problem is that she falls in love with Gabriel, the poor preacher who arrives on the same day. Although Felicity has a tendency towards snobbishness, she also has a good heart which improves as her relationship with Gabriel evolves. For his part, Gabriel stays true to his faith against a difficult congregation who sometimes put propriety over piety. Since the book takes place in the 1920s, it also intertwines certain historical details, such as Prohibition, bootlegging, and the orphan train which transported orphans from cities in the East to towns in the West. The author also includes several surprises and twists that had me guessing until the end to figure out the truth. Overall, I loved Christine Johnson's book The Matrimony Plan and happily recommend it to readers who enjoy historical fiction.
I loved Christine Johnson's latest book based in the fictional town of Pearlman, Michigan. The touches of humor kept a smile on my face while I found the story too good to put down! If you have a chance, pick this one up! It's a keeper!
Christine Johnson is a gifted writer. I love how she paints the scene for the reader without taking away from the plot. The story was so compelling I found it hard to put down. I kept telling myself... as soon as I finish this chapter I'm going to bed but then I get to the last page of the chapter and nope... I've got to turn the page to see where she's leading us. The characters journey kept me on the edge of my seat at times and the ending was very satisfying.
