I love Diana Palmer, and I buy her books as soon as they come out. I was waiting to see what she would do with Harley's character. In this book she did nothing. He was boring and so was the female lead. Alice appeared in other stories as a side character, and she should have stayed as one. Usually in Diana Palmer's stories you can see a build up of a romance and you are routing for the characters to get together. Not this time, who cared about Harley or about Alice. Harley came across so differently from how he was portrayed in other novels. He seemed to be hungry for any scrap of attention his boss gave him. Alice's character was just boring. In short, do not waste your time reading this book. If the book were to be published at all, it should have been part of another novel with as little said about these characters as possible.

I have read good and bad from Ms. Palmer. This is not just bad, it is stupid. What. Kilraven would not recognize his own phone number? Harley thought he could take Alice to his father's house and she would not connect the names? It took her long enough, bye the way. And she is a criminal investigator? Heaven help us if the ones in real life are anything like her. You have to get better Diana. You can't get any worse.

I absolutely love Diana Palmer books. The characters in the Long Tall Texan series are so tightly intertwined and interesting. But...I must admit that I was sorely disappointed. I fully expected Harley to have his own rich, full story. Although I enjoyed aspects of this story, it felt like Alice's. I guess my expectations were too high.

This book moved really fast for my taste. It was a bit strange for a woman to start proposing to a man whom she just met. It would have been nice to slow the pace on this one just a bit. It was lacking romance wise as well.

It was so nice to see Harley Fowler finally get the girl! Diana Palmer continues to make the reader feel that they are a part of the Jacobsville community!
