I'm really torn on this one...I thought that it was cute, much like the rest of the Maverick series. The characters related to each other well, it was well written, but there was just something missing on this one that missed my mark. I'm not sure what it is. I really enjoyed seeing Kain step out of his comfort zone and help out on the case, even if it was to just distract him from his personal life. I thought the relationship between him and Sasha was cute and though the first meeting was kind of awkward it was believable. I'm sad to see this series end because it's been one of my favorite from Nemer, but she did a good job tying things up to not leave the reader upset over loose ends. I look forward to what her next project is!

This was a fun and quick read. Not extremely detailed. Kain has been given the task of helping a girl who is wrongly imprisoned. He has spent the last year working on proving her innocence. Sasha has kind of lost hope that her brother's friends (The Brotherhood) can find a way to get her out of jail. She was arrested for stealing a necklace that she had purchased at a pawn shop, but had no proof to show she bought it. Kain is searching for any evidence that will clear her. He has not met her, but has been studying her life and the day that it all went wrong, so he has kind of become obsessed with her. But it was more of a cute obsession/ crush than a creepy stalker situation, so I was thankful for that. I have not read any of the other books in the series, so I didn't much care for the jumping around to the other couples that were from the previous stories. It was a little confusing, especially at first when it started off talking about one couple having a baby, giving birth, and then changing to another person's story. This might have made a lot more sense if I had read the others. It was cute and intriguing as it is, but there were quite a few places I felt the story could have been expanded and given more detail. At the end, a big event that the book was kind of building up to just gets cut off, and then we jump four years in to the future. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
