About the Author

Born and reared in Southern California, Stephen, or Steve, was the middle child in a family of five. His parents imparted values of integrity, compassion, honesty, and discipline. Blessed with a loving and supportive family, Steve and his siblings were inspired to explore their world, dream, and create.

His maternal grandparents were direct descendants of European immigrants who arrived in America through the gates of Ellis Island. Those grandparents, Howard, "Pop," or "Poppy," and Dorthy, aka Nana, were essential elements in the beautiful life bestowed upon Steve and his siblings.

Pop was the son of Jewish Hungarian immigrants who fled Hungary before the Nazi invasion of the 1940s. While far from the storyteller his grandfather was, Steve has taken inspiration from Pop's bedtime stories and created this children's book in hopes that some children would enjoy these stories just as much as he did. Nearly every night, Steve and his brothers would be put to bed by their grandfather's exciting and imaginative stories. This excellent memory was the impetus for this book and a desire for Steve to do the same for his children.
