Description: These updated drug cards represent a unique way to learn the most essential and critical information about the top 300 drugs.
Purpose: The authors set out to provide a simple yet comprehensive way for students to familiarize themselves with commonly prescribed medications in the U.S. These cards are concise, but detailed, and serve as an excellent tool to help students prepare for the NAPLEX.
Audience: These drug cards can be used by virtually any healthcare students wishing to enhance their drug knowledge. However, pharmacy students wishing to prepare for the NAPLEX exam will find these cards most helpful.
Features: The set includes drug cards that have been updated to reflect novel agents, such as in the management of hepatitis C, as well as summary cards of updated practice guidelines. In addition to finding an array of helpful charts on various drug classes, the actual drug cards themselves are the highlight of this reference. Each drug card includes both brand and generic names, pictures, available dosage forms, common indications/dosing, and off label use. Readers also will appreciate information regarding medication safety issues, interactions, and adverse reactions. Most importantly, each drug card lists clinical pearls, which can be used in practice. In addition, an MP3 audio download with detailed discussion of each drug is available. Of note, many cards include multiple agents in various drug classes, providing for similar information. Although redundant, readers may benefit from this repetition when using these cards as a learning tool.
Assessment: These drug cards are an excellent resource for those wishing to enhance their current drug knowledge or to wish help in preparing for the NAPLEX exam.
