Overview

Mayflowers, Sheepshowers is a story about the destruction of an eden, about the rite of passage of a small mixed-blood boy, Tuffy Tomm, who is forced to witness the destruction of his world and his way of life. Set in Oklahoma during the Great Depression the book is on the one hand a mystical foray into Tuffy's idyllic, natural world and on the other a realistic look at poor white sharecroppers, American Indians and a host of interesting and colorful characters who inhabit in the boy's world. The book contains elements of fantasy and allegory, romance and drama, song and verse and tongue-in-cheek humor. It does not, however, contain any graphic sex scenes, no overt human violence
