About the Author

In September 2017, the Town of Maynard established a Sesquicentennial Steering Committee to plan for and manage the pending celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the creation of Maynard, April 19, 1871. After some resignations and additions, the Committee members included Molly Bergin, Lisa Dahill, Charles Caragianes, Paula Copley, Ellen Duggan, Dave Griffin, Donald James, David Mark, Lindsay McConchie and Jen Picorelli. Meetings are organized under Massachusetts's Open Meeting Law. Postings of meeting dates, agendas and minutes can be found on the Committee's page on the Town of Maynard website. The first event, on April 19, 2020, was the opening of a time capsule that was created at the centennial celebration. In 2020, the Committee oversaw production of T-shirts and sweatshirts, mugs and flags to sell as souvenirs—in addition to this book—as means of raising money to pay for the celebration events planned for 2021, including a parade and concert.
