I tell you, my right and my left are in sync,
my two hands are decent people,
my brain is not an ice pick. Listen!
Give me something broken
I am not afraid of the mess,
the wretched tangled machinery.
Stuffed in your paper bag, my wrench glows,
ignites the electricity behind our girders.
I could have swallowed it whole
and carried the lump beyond the horizon.
I could have given it to you, a sign
of my virility, a token of my utter
consent. . . ."

I heard the author read in Portland last week and had to by the book. Since then I have been reading it every day. The language and imagery is truly amazing.
