I want to thank Brian Price for allowing me to put a face to those known only as a number to the state of Texas. To read about the crimes committed by the condemned, then to look at their mugshot, read their last words and last meal requests stirred every emotion. Although some of the 211 executed inmates committed heinous and inhuman crimes, I now see Price's view. If that was my loved one on that gurney about to be executed before my eyes, I would surely have preferred to see them at least live, even if that meant living in prison for the rest of their life. Price's Author's notes and exerpts from his journal he kept while serving time in prison as death row chef was written with such profound emotion that I was moved to tears at times. I highly recommend Meals To Die For to anyone, be they for or against capital punishment. It was a real page-turner! And I am looking forward to reading his next book about Texas prisons and their politics, 'The Price You Pay'. Please let me know when it is available. It is set for release this fall. A heartfelt thanks to Brian Price for opening my eyes. Nita Baker
