Meandering in Hampshire.
The Meandering in Hampshire book is set in and around the areas of Aldershot, Basingstoke and Fleet, in a county set in Southern England with some notable archaeology and many historic buildings. It is a very beautiful county with many different areas to see like the South Downs, touching the southern edge of Salisbury Plain and part of the New Forest to mention just a few. The book contains ten easy to follow circular walks with step by step guide, the distance varies from 3 to 1.5 miles but some of these walks can be extended along the way if required. Aldershot is the home of the British Army and the countryside is full of history that reflects this with its different landmarks. The walks cross several different terrains like woodland, heathland and over open commons with ponds and plenty of wildlife. There are open fields and beautiful meadows full of butterflies and wild flowers and only the sound of silence in the air. Please remember when going out on a walk to leave information with someone where you have gone and if possible how long? Also, check the walk with a O.S. map do not put all your faith in G.P.S or Smartphone, and be sure to pack food and drink for the trip there may not be any cafes or pubs. On most of these walks the ground is uneven and some areas very steep so take care when wet there could be a risk of slipping, always wear your walking boots for wet and muddy conditions which will also give you that extra support to protect the ankles and feet from damage.
