CONS: Last half the book is footnotes. Overall, it's common sense & common knowledge. PROS: Has a number of thoughtful nuggets that can be if you truly reflect on can be revealing into yourself or a relationship. I'm keeping mine on my Nook for all the highlights.

In this book, Keller helps couples to see marriage as God sees marriage. He encourages couples to work at marriage realizing that it is a covenant relationship between two people and God. Couples are encouraged to have their mutual goal that of drawing each other closer to the throne of God.

Timothy Keller touches on every aspect of marriage in this compelling book. He is able to understand both the male and female (with the help of his wife) side of things and explain it in plain English. He relates everything to the true creator of marriage - God - and explains why it is so important that couples stay together for their own sake as well as for their children and all who know them as a couple. You won't be sorry you read this!

Recently finished up The Meaning of Marriage by Tim and Kathy Keller after going through it as a class at church on Sunday evenings. One of the best books on marriage, singleness and all things related, that I’ve ever read. The Kellers take such a balanced approach to things. Written in partnership with his wife, Kathy, Tim Keller brings us another theologically rich, practical and accessible resource. If I had to pick one word to describe this book, it would be ‘balanced’. The Kellers are very careful to hold up marriage as good and honorable, but make sure it does not take an idolatrous position. They do the same for singleness. Their approach to intimacy in marriage is unique (at least for me) and their explanation of the role our spouse plays in growing us into the image of Christ is wonderful. I found myself challenged greatly by this book. An excellent study, especially for the young marrieds to go through as it will set a solid foundation to prepare them for difficult times they will indefinitely have in their marriage. Highly recommend you pick up a copy today and make your way through this one (single, dating, engaged or married – the material here is for all of us).
