If you are a fan of thrill reads and military based novels, I definitely recommend this short story as a good read all around. I read this book cover to cover in one sitting, something I normally associate with Cussler, Zahn or Griffen novels. As an ex Army Officer, I found main protagonist Kade to be both believable, and having attributes that could easily have been borrowed from my own experiences. The pace is quick, there are multiple lines of action, and there are a number of characters that have enough development to keep you engaged, and leave lots of room on the runways for follow one action and development. The multiple plots and character development are weaved together well either the fast reader such as me self, or the chapter at a time fans. The technical details are plausible and enhance story line without depending on them to make a believable ending. I got turned on to this book by an ex Army Buddy and now I’m hooked doggonit! Where is the next adventure going to lead, and what shenanigans will Kade get himself into next!

Your average techno-thriller either reads like a movie script, or allows the "techno" to overshadow the characters. A smoothly paced thriller, "Measure of Danger" is neither of these. While the novel does involve some clever, imaginative technology in its plot, the author, Jay Klages, remembers that the character is the story. I would have liked the author to have fleshed-out some of the character backgrounds a bit more, but the author's decision to keep the story taut pays dividends with the overall pacing of the novel. The conversations and internal narratives are natural, the action realistic, and both of these aspects make for an enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I was surprised at how quickly I was "into" the story. The plot really took off and you immediately felt connected to the protagonist and his mission. The characters, both friend and foe, were well drawn and you could see them in your mind as the story progressed. This is a page turner and as you are puzzling the outcome, you are definitely rooting for Kade Sims. I definitely see a sequel to this novel and it would make a good, believable movie. An excellent first novel!!
