Dr. House is an odious physician who happens to save lives by being an addicted maverick. The show is unpredictable and fun to watch. It tries to explain a brilliant doc who abuses patients, makes his staff cringe, and otherwise colors outside the lines. This book is an attempt to compare the show with reality. It does a great job! In fact, it would be on my required reading list for all those currently enrolled in a health care educational program. It tells like it is! I especially appreciated the small section giving homage to the unsung heroes of health care--nurses and other allied health workers who do their best to heal and get little to no credit. The author is very thorough in his discussion of various topics that are presented in the show and many people may not understand how it all really 'works.' The language used is not stilted and yet does not insult the reader's intelligence.
